Well, this may be very old news to some of you here, but this documentary in three parts just aired here in Sweden so I'll take a wild stab and recommend it to anyone who hasn't seen it yet. I won't try to judge or make smart comments about what is said in it, or claim it to be a hundred percent accurate. It is, however, thought-provoking and, atleast to me, quite frightening to watch. In short it takes up and analyzes the structure of modern corporations, how they work, think and affect our lives. For your convenience I'll post the link here: http://www.thecorporation.com/ (http://www.thecorporation.com/)

For those of you who have seen it, what did you think of it?

Its no surprise that this film came out. There has to be an alternative to corporate globilization. Globilization is immenant and so there has to be an equal movement that functions in the same way as globilization, with no more heirarchies. Personally I think that counter movement is the cooperative movement of the economy. With the workers able to take a role in running companies not only do cooperative companies truly function without help from a government like state-owned companies but the workers feel empowered and proud of their work because its that feeling of ownership that gives everyone that motive to work harder for what they own right. That was the flaw behind communisim because no one was motivated to work because they were working for the collective and now people have realized that and fixed that by giving the worker control over his work and a voice in their workplace.

You only just saw this film? It was made in 2003 I think.

One of the things I remember about this film is that the major problems with corporations is how they absolve everyone of responsibility or blame.

And I seemed to remember really liking the CEO of the carpet company.

I didn't like it that much. For a documentary on economics I thought that there were a lot of speakers who did not have a lot of background in the field. It was obviously biased and seemed more of an attempt to proselyte to the unwashed masses than to counter neo-liberal economic ideas.

I haven't see it - but I find it curious that the author is making an appeal against piracy on it similar to that of the MPAA.

.

Yes this is true. I am involved with two corporations. One is owned 100% by my wife and I and the other is a 50% venture. I can say after talking with several lawyers that set up both of them that I am off the hook for damn near everything. I think the only thing I can be nailed for is outright fraud. Then that has to be proven beyond a reasonable doubt.
