OK peeps, I'm hoping for a little advice from the computer sages that seem to be liberally dotted around on NSG. I've never owned a laptop before and don't know the first thing about them and so would welcome any help you guys can give.

I'll be buying from the UK and want a system that can handle a fairly simple workload: word processing, surfing the web and such like. The kicker is that I only have a budget of about £350.

The one I'm looking at at the minute is here (http://www.comet.co.uk/cometbrowse/product.do?sku=407151)
but that is pretty much based on the fact I've heard of all the bits and am under the impression that higher numbers = good when buying computers.

Don't buy from PC World. Their after sales service and stuff is shite.

I've got a Lenovo z60T, and I'm quite happy with it. Had it for a year thus far and the only hardware issue I've had with it has been a fan issue, which IBM happily sent out a service guy to fix ASAP.
Its a bit out of your price range though, around $2,000 (as I had it configured). I got mine as a graduation present.

I'd recommend Lenovo though.
