2nd most hated country in the world
Okay, we all can pretty much agree that most people think the United States of America is perhaps the most hated country in the world.
Now, If the US is the most hated, who comes in second?

I doubt that the USA is the most hated country in the world. Perhaps it is to some socialist Europeans who get oh so wound up by the fact that there is some injustice in the world, but to everyone else? Probably not.

You overlooked Africa, South America and Asia. No biggy - everybody does that ;)
Seriously, while in each country there are probably several other countries they dislike far more than the USA, the dislike of the USA is pretty global. Being number 3 (number pulled out of arse) in every country in the world tends to add up.
I doubt that the USA is the most hated country in the world.
*Coughs* It is so!
Second.... Probably... Portugal!
I doubt that the USA is the most hated country in the world. Perhaps it is to some socialist Europeans who get oh so wound up by the fact that there is some injustice in the world, but to everyone else? Probably not.As The Alma Mater said, the USA might not be the number one most hated for each country, but if you're in the top 3 around the world for each country, chances are that you're the most hated globally. The hatred is most likely a combination of envy of the power the US wields in the world, and a disgust at the way that it uses that power.
Being totally oblivious to how the world percieves the US was what made 9/11 a shock to most americans, don't tell me you've already forgotten that lesson.

I'm disappointed that England isn't in there anywhere...after all, we've been at war with nearly every nation on earth throughout history, had a huge empire, invented the concentration camp in the Boer war and more recently gave the world shameful pop act Steps.
But America justly deserves the number 2 spot, especially given it's recent, and wholly retarded, attempts at carving out an empire. But if you hate a country, does that mean you hate the place geographically, hate it's inhabitants, hate it's current and/or prior administrations, or a combination of all 3? Anyways, here's my top 3 "Countries that get on my tits":
1: America (No I don't want to supersize my democracy thank you)
2: Russia (So you killed a spy Vladimir, is it worth nuking Europe over?)
3: Zimbabwe (Nice job Bob, chase out the only people that knew how to keep
your citizens fed)
I dont hate american citizens, alot of my friends do but most of my friends are Russians and grew up in a time were anti-capitolism was taught in school with america being the epitomy of it. I would hope that most people relize that there is a difference between the american people and american government. as a previous poster pointed out that 9/11 brought into sharp focus that america is not universally loved as may have thought previous. I think since the Iraq war many Western nations that may have been fairly neutral may now be anti-american to some degree but in regards to western nations anyway i dont think the majority of people "hate" america per se but may be more frustrated with how they handle there international affiars.
But imo Indonesia, Im from australia and if there nation stays democratic as it has in recent times they will be a good neighbour but if the local terror group Jemiah Islamia (sp?) gets there way then we would have serious problems down here in oz in regards to an extremly hostile enemy on our doorstep.

Because only the USA and England hate France (with abit of residual hatred in Northern Africa).

Based on number of people who hate it? Pakistan :P
Sorry Europe, but you guys are outnumbered.
Seriously though, NSG isnt a really accurate reflection of world opinion. It seems at times to be inhabited by a majority of liberal Europeans (and I mean liberal on the European scale, of course. Being a moderate American that makes me a facist in Europe, see?), with the occasional ultra-conservative US citizen.
Basically, NationStates is a forum of extremes :P
North Korea, India, Pakistan, Russia, Iran, Japan, China, the UK maybe, Israel, Saudi Arabia, Turkey. All of those are certainly good candidates for the 'most hated' titel if we exclude the US. Most of them are/were imperial powers of some sort, which pretty much automatically means somebody doesnt like 'em. Russia's got Eastern Europea AND Central Asia, North Korea has the South, Japan has pretty much all of Asia east of India. Turkey is not well liked in the MIddle East for a number of reasons. The UK didnt leave behind happy memories in a lot of places either.
Its a toss-up really.

Well alot of us here are English or American, so someone should have said it.
New Zealand. Everyone hates them.
It’s hard not to dislike or at least envy the US. After all, they have the most powerful proven armed forces in the world. They own 90% of the world’s wealth. It’s true, that an overwhelming number of Americans don’t own a passport. But, I ask you, why would you want one, when the rest of the world is so … third world. Are you upset by reading this? Good, now go fuck yourself. Oh, and I don’t plan on reading any follow-up to this either, because I honestly don’t care what you think.

Sidestep: is the Vatican liked, disliked or ignored by most of the (non Roman Catholic) world ? Does anyone know ?
It bugs me that you can't hate a powerful nation/better team/better *insert something* without being told that you hate it because you envy it. A lot of people dislike America because of it´s foreign policy - a danish journalist even said this week:
"I'm quite embarresed to admit it, but I actually thought: 'Hey, it is the Americans who are taking a beating. They deserve it. (...) finally there's someone who strikes back, but on the other side - there's a lot of innocent people who will die."
(I forgot to add - it was his immediate thoughts when he heard of the attack on the WTC)
Other hated nations would be Germany because of their past, I think.

I am quite certain that if that attack had occured during a time the building was empty, Bin Laden would have been hailed worldwide as a hero.
Rather stupid of him.

But at least the arses are properly referenced as sources :)
According to a BBC poll (http://www.globescan.com/news_archives/bbccntryview/), Canada, Japan, France, the UK, China and India enjoy a mostly positive image abroad (especially Canada, Japan and France), while the US, Russia, Iran, North Korea and Israel are viewed negatively. People are split neatly down the middle about Venezuela.

Ah, so that bastion of civility and religious freedom Saudia Arabia is one of the most loved.
I see.
"Palestinian" -- where is that nation again? I can't seem to find it on the map.
And I voted twice in the survey and it accepted both votes. Sooooo accurate.
Forgive me if I see this as flamebaiting the US users of this forum.
