Minor crimes that really annoy you

Inspired by comments in another thread - what crime really gets your goat? I get really annoyed by people using their mobile phones while they are driving and the moronic people who scrawl their bloody initials everywhere. Somehow these rile me far more than they probably warrant in the larger scheme of things.

Bully drivers. The kind that gets their 4WD into a lane on the freeway, accelerates to speed limit +30 (or more), then refuses to slow down - "I got me a big ol' cockmobile and I'll just squish anybody who wont get outta my way!"

Mind you, it doesn't work with me. I don't drive above the limit, EVER, and to hell with getting out of his way. I drive a van. World's largest crush panel before they get near me...

Yeah the old phone while your driving does my head in too. I dunno why, i don't even drive!

Dropping litter, gets my goat also. Ohh and as a pedestrian, people trying to run me over on a zebra, or pelican crossing.

Over the last few years people seem to have come to think that stopping at a zebra crossing when someone is on it is now somehow voluntary.

driving things that bother me
changing lanes without signaling, turning into the wrong lane, backing out without looking, talking on the cell phone, having children unbuckled and running rampant in the back seat, speeding.

other things that bother me
graffiti/vandalism, kids who walk in the middle of the street, jaywalkers, shoplifters.

People who smoke in area's it is illegal to smoke in due to the ban on smoking in public places.

You can puff that stick of nicotene and tar at home or outside. I don't want to catch a cancer that should rightfully belong to you, if anyone. Also, I'd like to be able to eat my meal without a hint of ash on my taste buds.

It's only happened to me a couple of times here in Scotland, and that was when the law was just passed and it was that interim period where the public judge whether or not the law was enforcable.

Thankfully I haven't had to deal with this problem recently. :)

Definitely vandalism and graffiti.

To vandalise something is essentially to say that you are better than everyone else. You think it might be fun to trash that public toilet. You don't care that people had to work for weeks to pay the taxes to build that toilet because you're better than them. You deserve to have people work their arses off for you.

Also firebugs. Maybe that's an Australian only term - someone who starts a bushfire on purpose. Although that is not really a minor crime I guess.

Heh car drivers seem to think that pedestrians are not allowed to cross their roads.

On the other side of the equation, pedestrian seem to think that lights that say don't walk are there to illuminate the streets only.

I can't count the times I had to stop on my green light while someone cross the street when he shouldn't.

Litterbugs drive me up the wall, and I second Bottle's specific mention of people who toss their cigarettes out car windows. (Actually, people who litter with cigarettes in general probably piss me off more than people littering with anything else, largely because (a) they seem particularly prone to tossing their trash on the ground even when there's a trash can a mere few feet away, and (b) their trash is not infrequently STILL ON FIRE. Just a few days ago, I saw an idiot toss his smoking cigarette directly onto a large pile of dry grass without a second thought. Stupid, stupid, stupid.)

It's also not a crime, but I feel that people who leave public toilets filthy should be forced to wear a big red P on their chests, indicating their proclivity for peeing/pooping on toilet seats and not cleaning up after themselves. I hate those people.

Vandalism and graffiti. This also covers computer virus makers. What is the thrill in destruction for no purpose?

People that think there's a different speed limit for the inside lane. If I'm going the speed limit I have every right to be in any lane. The inside lane is really for "through" traffic (people not looking for an exit.) not for people running over the limit.

People that weave traffic. Pick a lane and stay there! It has been proven that people that constantly change lanes are the primary cause of traffic slowdowns. Everyone has to slow down to regain following distance.

Actually, in many states (not to mention other countries) it is illegal to drive on the left unless you are passing. I was actually pulled over in England for driving too slow for my lane, even though I was going about 20 mph above the posted speed limit. Pulled over in WA for doing the same thing (at least there the state trooper warned me about my speed).

Felt safer driving on the autobahn than I ever do on the highways here, even with the cars passing me at 200 km/hr (my rental, curse it, couldn't get much higher than 130...)

Vandalism (of many sorts), unnecessary traffic lights, unnecessary street lights, people leaving TVs, room lights, computers on when they are not using it. Unnecessary 4x4 drivers, people who don't signal, people who are on the phone while driving, pedestrians who don't look, people who park in stupid places and take up half the road in doing so.

Yes! This is one of the major 'minor crimes' that bother me. I want to follow them home and dump trash all over their doorstep. Littering in general really, but mostly I see the cigg flicks.

People driving horribly because of cell phone use also gets my goat. Pay a-fucking-ttention people! There ARE others on the road.

People driving horribly when they aren't on the cell phone. Are they on drugs (legal or otherwise) or just stupid? Before the prevalence of cell phones I had a theory that 90% of drivers were simply drunk or cracked out.

Driving things that annoy me:
Changing lanes without signaling, not turning into the near lane (when someone else is also turning), throwing trash out the car window (especially cigarette butts), weaving through lanes, people who think left turners have the right of way when they don't (The Pittsburgh Left (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pittsburgh_Left), especially), people who think I'm obligated to let them merge.
This list could go on, so I'll stop here.

Other things that annoy me:
People who leave their shopping carts in the parking lot and not where they're supposed to go, people who put their gum on the undersides of furniture, the majority of drunk people.
This list could also go on.

It's already been mentioned; littering, particularly chewing gum.

But a non crime that should be a capital crime: Leaving your shopping trolley littering the car-park. DON'T DO IT YOU LAZY ****! PUT THE DAMN THING IN THE TROLLEY BAY TEN FEET AWAY!

Edit: I just realised I copied JB, just more rudely. Oops >_<

I hate jaywalkers, especially those who have their children in tow. Not only do the children slow them down, creating more inconvenience, but the parents are endangering their children because they're 1. drawing them into danger and 2. teaching them dangerous actions.

Yeah, the bigass jacked up SUV's are always driven by jerks who tailgate. Sometimes I very quickly step on the breaks so I suddenly slow down and then release to scare the shit out of them.

I drive above the speed limit, by a reasonable amount, but jesus christ, if you want to drive faster than me, just pass me, you know? Maybe I need one of those bumper stickers that says "the closer you get, the slower I drive."

Another thing that pisses me off, is when jackasses block my drive way. I always call to get them towed.

Littering really irritates me, too. Especially when some cockwad throws his garbage on the ground when there's a trash can less than ten feet away.

Flying insurance hobos. It is mostly a problem in a large town just outside Greater Vancouver, which I rarely have to go to, but it is annoying nonetheless.
A flying insurance hobo is a hobo that will jump in front of your car in order to get a settlement from your insurance company (said town is full of hicks and farmers so panhandling is pointless). I'm sure you can see why this is annoying.

Littering.

My son used to be a cop. He told me once that his favorite ticket to give was one for littering, especially when the person tossed lit cigarettes out the window (he lives in an area where brush and forest fires are a huge issue)

Them Jay-walking punk kids really rile me up...

actually...just Jay-walking in general, and being too lazy to either see if a car is coming and/or not waiting for the signal that tells you it's safe to cross the street....

It really ticks me off because people do it all the time at school and even though there are repeated warnings from the Principal and teachers etc, they still do it
