Here's a minute (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JdigmXo5qhk), or so, of some of the last century's great aircraft at an airshow.

Do you imagine that any airshow, anywhere would allow a four-plane to drop Napalm cannisters in front of the viewing stands?

Being dead tends to affect one's sense of smell.

But did you see the crowd flinch when the Hustler flew over? We used to have them fly over regularly in the '60s. The sonic booms were pretty impressive.

Well, the late 50's early 60's is my least favorite era for aviation. Nothing beats the beauty of WWII planes like the P-38, A6M, Spitfire... although the Germans put out some really fugly aircraft during the war.

It's kinda funny that we see the B-52 and the C-130 in that clip, both of which are still in service today and have no plans to retire them anytime soon.

I guess if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Wow!

Some pretty rare planes there...101's to 106's....with a B-58 thrown in....and as I have seen the others in flight in some shape or form barring the '58...thanks!

Not quite sure about the napalm....it was a touch too far from the crowd.

Neither of those are anywhere near the original forms. I don't know much about the B-52, although Celtland could give us quite a lesson, I expect. The C-130 has gone from the old -A model shown, to the slick -J. Not that you can really tell the difference that easily.

Apropos of absolutely nothing, I was VERY amused by the next option YouTube presented me.

I just creamed myself. In all honesty I was hoping for something about noseart and pinups, but explosions are just as good.

I didn't like the video, because there wasn't more of the F-104 Starfighter. That's my favorite of the century series.

Reminds me of a B1B taking off from Boeing field in Seattle and it stood on it's tail end while the pilot gave it full thrust. Was the most impressive thing I have seen a plane do.

As far as some of my favorites are the B1B, the B2 which I was witness to 3 of them flying together low and slow over Tacoma, Washington. The F-111 has always been a favorite especially when they used it on Libya.

Vintage planes I like the FW190 and the ME 109 both of which I got a chance to sit in the pilots seat at a collection on the coast of Oregon.

Also I cannot forget a plane close to my heart, the A-10. The A-10 is one of the best attack planes out there. I have seen them in action and can say if I were the enemy I would be running like hell to get away from my tank that was about to get mauled.

I'm truly disappointed that you didn't remember the two dozen A-6's from the raids on Libya. We spent our time over Bengazi -- we just didn't have to fly half way around the world to get there.

I've seen the B-2 up close. It's far bigger than I ever expected. For something that large to have a radar signature that is miniscule is just amazing.

I'm like one of the other posters, though. I really wanted to see more F-104...

Why does the US never invite other countries to events it refers to as "the world...."?

That thing was "the world congress of flight" then you have the "world series" et c.

I've always wondered why the rest of the world has such a chip on their shoulders over the whole thing.
