Apparently a pissy art teacher got suspended for encouraging her students not to eat meat and refuses to return to school until it removes all milks, cheese, and meat products from their school lunch menu. Tomorrow, he plans to demand dairy cows stop giving milk.

There's something about art teachers in general...and drama...

Wouldn't it just be easier for them to hire a less annoying art teacher?

EDIT: Woohoo! 100th post! *does a little dance*

Well, if the art teacher is suspended, I guess she can't do too much harm at school, huh? I wouldn't have thought the union-happy city of Chicago would have had the balls to do that.

Of course... murder is always the answer when we don't likle someones diet.

I think the next big bloody battle should be between the assholes who eat meat and the assholes who dont eat meat.

That will be one that I'll be neutral in. They'll fight about food, both sides'll starve, and I'll end up fat.

That has nothing to do with it; it has to do with *ONE* person expecting the vast majority to suite their particular agenda.

I don't eat meat, but I don't expect people to change to suite my tastes; hell, I worked in a butchery, and it certainly didn't affect me one iota.

That sounds like one of the subquests from Baldur's Gate II...except the guy was a tanner, so he couldn't be a vegan.

Got to hand it to her though, she followed her consience. I really admire that. If I ever met her, I'd totally buy her a Happy Meal.

Well, time for her to look for a new school then. ;)

The best answer would be for all the meat-eating (or just ethical) teachers to suggest they were going to similarly refuse to return until they are guaranteed that the option of meat will NOT be removed.

...

In that case, she'll stay suspended, and is going to have to look for another job. Tada.

I'm all for, if there's a demand, a vegan/vegetarian alternative in cafeterias. Expecting the world to bend to what you believe is right? I'm sure he fits right in among all those high school students.

On the one hand, the teacher is quite frankly fucking dumb to expect the school to remove all animal products from the lunch menu, when they could just hire a sensible replacement.

On the other hand, using one example to make a sweeping statement against a particular group of people is remarkably pathetic.

There's a difference between wanting an alternative and wanting them to remove everything you don't agree with altogether.

If the teacher were demanding that healthy lunch alternatives for vegans be available, that would be another story altogether.

I demand that all food served at lunch be meat. Of the human variety particularly.

QFT.

This is what I was thinking. If the school had been refusing to provide alternative options, there would be a legitimate complaint.

Of course, if this teacher has a problem with what's served in the school's cafeteria, he could just avoid it entirely.
