I've had more than enough bad experiences with liquor to loathe them all, preferring to stick to beer and wine for inebriation. However, if forced to choose, I would go for vodka.

One of many words for it, yes. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Distilled_beverage)

Actually, now it's been mentioned I'm tempted to change to gin - it's not as versatile but G&T is a damn fine drink.

Well, yeah, but it also tends to be more prolonged and it's very difficult to pass out. Plus, hangovers are virtually nonexistent.

Really? Because I always found beer and wine were the surest way to a hangover. Because with liquor I drank other stuff with it like juice or soda, cuts down on the dehydration.

My favorite, mead, is not included in this poll.

However, vodka mixes well with just about anything, so that.

I prefer beer to hard liquor though.

Wine and hard apple cider are pretty much all I'm drinking for now on. After a bout of parties and being able to stomach anything, all of the sudden I can't put down anything that isn't made out of grapes or apples. Mildly depressing, but wine Beirut might be fun.

Of choices given, had to take whiskey.

Of course, i'm not limited to that.
Also sake, Fire Water (lotsa schnapps), port, cognac, merlot, framboise, pinot noir, zinfandel (to chase the Fire Water of course) ... of course, gotta know what not to mix in what settings. *retches at memory*

I never drink any of the beverages in the poll straight, but I dearly love a good margarita, so I went with tequila.

Despite sampling none of those choices, I do have a reasonably full liquor cabinet - it's just full of girly things. I've got Bailey's (regular and chocolate mint), amaretto, Kahlua, creme de cacao, creme de menthe, peach schnapps, Kirschwasser, and I used to have some blackberry schnapps until earlier this evening. :) Yum.

Scotch with a cigar, Jaeger at the bar, and sherry for conversation. But these are just favorites; not indicative of all possibilities, which depends entirely on the company and the situation. For instance, I am apt to switch the Scotch with a cognac, depending on how pleasant or understanding I am required to be. Scotch is more social and friendly; cognac exudes a more refined air of formality.

Vodka, without further adds. The taste is horrible, so that I'm almost sure I will never get addicted to it, and has a nice, immediate warming effect without drinking excessive quantities.
By the way, at first I thought that with "liquor" you meant "cerebrospinal fluid" :D

My current favourite is Absinthe. Followed by, in order of preference:

Gin
Calvados (apple brandy)
Brandy
Whiskey (I prefer Irish to Scottish Whisky)

...and whoever said Benedictine that is a liqueur not a liquor - it has added sugar.
