At what point will you correct a poster?
When there are minor/egregious spelling, grammar, and/or awkward phrasing, etc. (ie. this sentence)?
Do you hold different standards for different posters (no specifics)?

As long as a post is coherent enough to be understood, I won't say anything unless there's irony/lulz to be exposed.
Otherwise, there's no point.
[/passive-aggressive grammar nazism rant]
I only correct posters after they correct me.
other than that, I might ask for clarification if the post is totally unclear. but I won't correct Grammar or Spelling.
oh and I will correct a poster if they either misquote me or credit me with something I didn't say/do.

i'm not sure i've ever corrected anyone's spelling or grammar as part of cutting down their argument. maybe i have but i don't remember. i wouldn't hesitate to correct someone if i knew they were talking out of their arse about something archaeological though.

I only correct them when they say something wrong ("Columbus was the first european to reach North America") or express an absured opinion ("Dubya is the best president ever."). Not surprisingly, I've corrected a certain troll many many times.
Never, that's incredibly stupid.

You cannot correct an opinion.
Also, you might want to correct that. :P

I do have the habit of correcting posts that I quote for spelling - merely because Firefox allows me to do it so easily.

I don't bother much anymore, used to. There's always a singular individual like Fass to show up and give someone the what-for, and it surely turns into a lively event in following.

At what point will you correct a poster?
If I'm really pissed off I'll do it, especially if I think the poster is being an asshole.
At what point will you correct a poster?
At precisely the point when my indulgence in alcohol overcomes my natural reticence to protrude in other's affairs.

Ashmoria's a lost cause if that's what you're getting at.
I hardly care to anymore. If they want to be ignorant, then go for it.

I don't correct other posters because it's a waste of time. I did once, on another forum, harass another poster about these bizarre intentional spelling and grammar errors he was making for quite a while, but that was more out of boredom than actually caring about the errors being made.
And, of course, if I try to correct someone I'll end up making some sort of spelling or grammar error myself.

If they piss me off or if I think they appreciate it. If I know that someone learns German, I point out even small flaws (but try to be positive about it), if someone speaks 1337, txt or lolcat grammar, I tell him to stop it.
BTW: if someone wants to point out how bad my English is, go ahead, but be constructive! It can only help me to improve.

If I can read it without twitches and spasms, I don't care. But if I can't get through a post due to pain and/or hilarity, I will probably do something silly.
Truth be told, I will probably do something silly regardless. :p

I only correct other peoples spelling if they're being lazy with their typing (for example, if someone were to use ur instead of your, wat instead of what, or b4 instead of before), or if they're correcting someone else's spelling and make a mistake (because I think it's funny).
