Man, China is ROUGH.

"A Chinese woman is suing her former employer after falling victim to the company policy of firing staff who contradict their boss three times."

And we wonder why the Chinese are turning out so much polluted, cheap shit...

"But these toys/food/cars are unsafe and contaminated with pollutants! We can't sell them!"
"You're fired!"

Of course, now that they are starting to see just what these kinds of policies are doing to their country, they're probably more likely to crack down on them and give workers more protection.

Ridiculous. Mind, suing the employer might not be a good idea. Aside from the fact that it would be surprising if she wins, contradicting her boss's attempt to sack her will only increase the punishment further! So what is it for contradicting four times, the death penalty? :p Actually, I shouldn't joke, it wouldn't surprise me if that was the case in China!

They have three times? Hmm, well at my old job, they could fire you after talking back once. Doesn't seem to out of place.

uh...no. They're not turning out cheap unsafe shit cause you can't talk back to your boss.
They're turning out cheap, unsafe shit cause the West demands it's products from China to be as cheap as possible.

They go hand in hand. It's much easier to cut costs if nobody's able to report violations and if the government is hand in hand with the violators.

This just proves that the west is winning the war.
Where do you think they got three strikes you're out.

Also I think employers do that in the U.S

Several states in the US have at-will employment, meaning that an employer can fire an employee at ANY time for pretty much ANY reason (or no reason), so long as there isn't an employment contract or collective bargaining agreement in place. (By any reason, I mean any reason except for those prohibited by anti-discrimination legislation).

I happen to agree with at-will employment policies. It promotes employment by not making employers think twice about hiring people. I would even argue that it helps to promote employment contracts, at least among employees smart enough to demand contracts, b/c the alternative is potentially harsh.

This thread lacks shock value. Basically it is China, what do you expect?

Women shouldn't talk back to men, full stop. They have to learn sometime. I don't see what the big deal is.

The other nice thing about at-will contracts is that an employee cannot be sued for quitting.

What if I told you that, when filling out the paper work for her release the boss put down "Cause for Dismissal" as "Bitch got uppity"?
And, yes, he used English. The Chinese only pretend to write in that crazy picture language when they think westerners are watching. It really doesn't mean anything.

"The factory head told me that, according to company rules, no matter whether management is right or wrong, employees are not allowed to contradict them and must obey," Xinhua quoted Ni as saying."

Not too far off from the political policy of China, no? :(

Sounds like the playbook for the Bush Whitehouse
