Eleven comedians, one dressed as Osama bin Laden, disguised as a Canadian motorcade, managed to make it past the first ring of security before being arrested.

A TEAM of comedians have managed to cause the first embarrassing APEC security blunder with a member of The Chaser dressed as Osama bin Laden managing to ride a fake motorcade through two police cordons into the red zone.

Up to 11 people connected to the ABC Chaser group have been arrested by police after they drove their fake motorcade down Macquarie Street into the fenced off area not far from the Intercontinental Hotel where President George W Bush is staying.

It appears Chas Licciardello was dressed as Osama bin Laden and was only arrested after he emerged from one of the vehicles, much to the embarrassment of security forces in the area. Chaser star Julian Morrow was also detained.

Somehow, the team managed to avoid the massive security contingent to get as far as they did. They had crossed Bent St and stopped at Bridge St when they were arrested.

The team from the satirical TV program The Chaser's War on Everything were in a convoy of three cars and two motorbikes which was reportedly ushered through two checkpoints in Sydney's APEC security ``red'' zone.

The convoy was pulled over in Macquarie Street on a block adjacent to the InterContinental Hotel, where US President George W Bush is a guest during the APEC summit.

"It's fair to say we never intended to break the law, if we have broken the law, which we don't think we have done," said Chaser Craig Reucassel.

Despite their arrest, The Chaser managed to get their footage back to the studio. A team of ABC staffers have been arguing with detectives as to the legality of them being in the area.

I'm totally behind the eleven guys, but my god that was a stupid idea... I may have missed something in the source, but I'd assume the punnishment for that must be extremely severe, and it doesn't look like the man is loling with them.

Still, took serious balls.

Osama was at my school 3 years ago. I swear I saw him in front of the office.

Good for them, they exposed exactly how easy it'd be for terrorists, and an exceedingly well known one to get close enough to kill dozens of leaders. The security folks ought be fired.
