Bush's grandfather was part of a coup to overthrow the US government!

In 1933, the DuPont family, along with leaders of US Steel, Remington Arms, J.P.Morgan, and Standard Oil tried to pay off Maj. Gen. Smedley Butler to lead the Bonus Army to overthrow President Roosevelt. Obviously, they were pissed at his social democratic policies. Congress hushed it up when Butler tattled on them all, but something else came out.

A 2007 BBC radio documentary also implicated Prescott Bush, President George W.Bush's grandfather, and may be heard at http://www.rescue-us.org/new/node/34.

Now don't that beat all?

Interesting? If by interesting you mean they type of morbid interesting that compells people to stare at traffic accidents, then yes.

It would've turned the US in to a banana republic with our own version of Fulgencio Batista at the helm.

I've heard Prescott violated the "Trading with the Enemy Act" , but Wikipedia says his plot to overthrow is alleged.

Not the kind of interesting that I'd like to see in my lifetime, that's for sure.

Not like it'd be worse than Bush...

Uh, do you even know what the Bonus Army was?

Probably not, because it was never their intention to overthrow President Roosevelt, or the US government. It was because World War I veterans (as well as the entire country) were dealing with the Great Depression. The vets were guaranteed a 40 year bonus for fighting in the war, and they marched on Washington to ask for it in advance.

What made the thing so prevelant in history is the fact that a riot broke out, current US soldiers were involved and led by Douglass MacArthur. And a child died. That is the only reason you hear about the Bonus Army, otherwise it would have been just another march on Washington.

There was no backing to the movement by corporate types, it wouldn't benefit them. It was started by a single louge of WW1 veterans and spread across the country.

But thats okay, assume what you want.

Omg. Stop the presses. A seventy-four year old story in which an ancestor of the present President was supposedly to have been involved in a failed plot.

As much as I dislike Bush, that's a good (and true) retort.

I'd put more faith in the veracity of this if it didn't come from a site from that right-wing lunatic. You're pretty much the last person I expected to post the rantings of Ron Paul.

But in '33, Dupont got past level six and so racked up another bonus army. He and prescott were going to use it against Roosevelt, but Franklin by that time had passed level nine and had both fireballs and smartbombs.

Don't forget the requisite cake and sausage that one would be well advised to bring with when dungeon crawling. Franklin had, like, ten pieces of cake. All German double chocolate.

Exactly, that's why FDR got the all-time presidential high score.

Yes I do, as a matter of fact. The point is that these corporate goons were trying to buy off their leaders into taking action against FDR. It quite plausibly would have worked.

Here you have corporate types planning on using a popular movement for personal gain. Not suprising, really.

Not a general but a Federal court judge to accept the count for his victory in Florida, on the last election. Judges have more power than generals, I think it was family too if I am not mistaken

Bah, all lies! Hogwash! Baloney! Horseraddish!
Everybody KNOWS Bush's ancestors are alen moon lizards. Why would they try to overthrow the US government? They've got a crystal that can destabilize the planets core.
This is kinda like Area 51, see? Its a story the government made up to distract you from the REAL goings on.
