3 terror suspects arrested in Germany
1 hour, 30 minutes ago

BERLIN - Three suspected Islamic militants were arrested for allegedly plotting "imminent" and "massive" attacks on the Ramstein Air Base, a major U.S. and NATO military hub, and Frankfurt's busy international airport, German authorities said Wednesday.

German federal prosecutor Monika Harms said the three — two of whom were German converts to Islam — had trained at terror camps in Pakistan and procured some 1,500 pounds of hydrogen peroxide for making explosives. And a top legislator said the group could have struck "in a few days," noting a "sensitive period" that includes the anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks.

Yahoo/AP/OccNEWS
http://news.yahoo.comhmmm

the target of the attack was the Air Force base or the Frankfurt Airport?
..unless these 2 are one and the same ??

>>> EDIT >>>
the News sources (like this one from AP) were saying the 3rd man was Pakistani.. But now they have figured he is actually a Turk. (Like CabraWest/DerSpiegel pointed out)

Pakistani? Der Spiegel says he's Turkish?Al*Jazeera says he is a "holder" of a Pakistan Passport.. but
in this case.. I am willing to give the benefit-of-the-doubt to Der Spiegel because they are much closer to the action.

EDIT.. its now confirmed he is a Turk.

I like how the American 'expert' they were interviewing this morning on this said "This has woken up Europe to the dangers of terrorism." My first thought was "Oh yeah, Europe was completely oblivious to terrorism, what with dealing with attacks by separatist terrorist groups for decades "

*sigh... ok, Occeandrive, we know you're DYING to defend these guys and justify their actions. Go ahead. Before I even try to form an opinion.. I need to know if the target was the Military Base or the German -Civilian- Airport.
its the only question I have so far (like I wrote on the OP)

AP says it was both.. but 3 persons cant attack both places at the same time.

Yeah, they really can. Four people managed to set off four bombs on the London transport system.

These men target both a US military base and a civilian airport.

Uh, read that statement there. Three people could theoretically attack three targets at the same time.

Al*Jazeera says he is a "holder" of a Pakistan Passport.

Doesn't matter actually. They were all trained there. That's what matters.

The suspects, two German converts to Islam aged 22 and 29 and a 29-year-old Turk, appeared before a federal magistrate on Wednesday. They were picked up Tuesday after a series of raids in 30 places across Germany, Ziercke said.

They were members of a German terror cell called the "Islamic Jihad Union," and received terrorist training in Pakistan, he noted.

Quick. Give some billions to Musharraf.

From the OP's source:

"We were able to succeed in recognizing and preventing the most serious and massive bombings," Harms told reporters. She declined to name specific targets, but said the suspects had an eye on institutions and establishments frequented by Americans in Germany, including discos, pubs and airports."
Go ahead Ocean, defend away.
