I'm considering Switzerland, but probably after University. Otherwise, go expat and spend your time travelling in Asia.

Id'say Scandinavia, particular Sweden or Denmark. OK it gets a bit cold at winter but it is a damn good place to live in, or so my many friends there tell me.

Spain. Unemployment is a little high, racism is still a bit of problem, but otherwise fine. Just don't go to the south coast. Too many British expats. Eugh!

There aren't, at least as far as I can see. Compared to Europe or the USA, everybody here is pretty much frolicking in sunflower fields holdings hands and singing about harmony and love.

Moral of the story: Wherever you go, there you are. You're going to find the same stories repeated in every country you live in. Population density and government control of media sources will determine how much you actually see it on the news, but it's still there.

People are people, no matter where they are. You're going to find corruption, greed, anger, hate, and every single one of the seven deadly sins in every country you go to.

The real answer isn't trying to find the "perfect" place to live, but to do everything you can to make where you do live a good place.

Portadown or NI in general because in my opinion people from NI have this strange obsession with painting the place in the worst light possible when they're talking to people from other countries. It's like the Patrick Kielty joke about Northern Ireland being known in the past for "fucking and fighting" and people missing that image. Some areas are as bad as always i'll agree but Northern Ireland as a whole has made some big steps.

Not to mention that it's Glasgow, not Belfast that's the most violent city in western Europe :D

I dunno, the most I've ever heard anyone bitching about is occasional grumbling about the large number of non-english speaking immigrants who don't even try to learn english or drive according to the laws of the road here (or when I was in BC, the taxi driver we had pointed out that some farmers from the south asia area have sprayed their produce with pesticides that have resulted in some deaths...)

Government officials tend to steal less in "lesser" countries. Take Bertie Ahern (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bertie_Ahern#Controversy) for example... plenty of corruption there, but comparatively small-scale.
