Are you doing Holiday Shopping yet?

So last Wednesday I was listening to the John Hancock show on WBT 1110 AM. He was talking about how (I think) 1% of the American population have already done their holiday shopping. Some people are already starting to buy decorations etc. John even talked about some retail stores already setting up their Christmas decorations.
So has anyone in NSG started doing their Holiday shopping, and have you guys started putting up Christmas decorations or at least start buying them? For me, I don't even bother with the holiday stuff until after Thanksgiving, I mean it's still to early to think about this, I mean hell we haven't gone through Halloween or Thanksgiving yet! Jeez, some people are starting the Winter Holiday seasons way too early.
Yep... I finished my Holiday Shopping just yesterday.
of course this was for 2005...
Now I have to start shopping for Christmas 2006...
and btw, stores start putting up their Christmas decorations after Halloween.

You imply that you celebrate holidays, just not religious ones. Which do you celebrate and how? I'm curious.

May 1, for instance. Midsummer Day (yes, yes, it is pagan from the beginning, but nowadays it has no religious connotations at all). New Year's. The Swedish National day has only been a public holiday for two years, so I haven't really started celebrating that one (also, I don't like nationalism and think it should not have been made into a holiday at all), but I might do something next year - depends if any of my friends think they want to do something.
Then there are of course Sweden's unofficial food-related holidays, like waffle, cinnamon bun and semla day.

Hrm. I celebrate no holidays except Xmas, New Year's and Halloween. All three are good excuses to get drunk and party. I attach none with religious connotations, regardless of how they were established/are viewed.

The holiday season is still three and a half months away.
Atma's birthday is in a month and a half, but I don't go shopping for me until after it happens. Furthermore, it's not (yet~) a holiday.

Well, we don't have Halloween here. Stores tried to introduce it a couple of years ago - they really went all out with TV ads and parties and decorations, the whole shebang - but fortunately the public saw through the consumerism and it never took off. There being a religious holiday in its place already (Alla helgons dag = All Saints' Day) meant to be for visiting dead relatives' graves and reminiscing about them didn't exactly help fuel a party atmosphere...
Tell that to Costco. They have had their Xmas stuff out for a month.
well, costco has always been weird... :p

I hate shopping. I prefer not to think about it until it's panic time.

The way my family does Christmas there are absolutely no religious connotations at all.
No, I haven't started shopping, nor will I. Several years ago I told my family not to buy me anything, and I only buy things for my niece and nephew.

I might start shopping after Thanksgiving -- probably I will wait until the semester break in mid-December, though.

What's to panic? There's this nice thing called the internet through which presents are delivered right to the door. No elbowing blue haired old ladies over the last sweater in your size required.

not unless one is looking at the night before Christmas and you read "Please allow 4 - 6 weeks for delivery" at the bottom of the website. :D

Doesn't fly with my family. Even if I do point out to them that I'm just trying to stretch the festive season out as much as possible for them.
As for my holiday shopping, bugger that. I'll start at the beginning of December, and that's only if I'm buying online. Otherwise, it'll all be done within a week of Xmas day.
Ah but then the ultimate excuse:
"It's in the mail."
Considering that I'm only now starting my 2006 Christmas Shopping...
yeah, the postal service is REEEAAAALLLLY slow... :p
I saw a christmas tree at costco today. It made me sad.
Christmas doesn't start until after my birthday has ended. I refuse to put up lights, go shopping, even drink egg nog until my birthday has come and gone.
Even then I don't really start shopping until I've written all my exams.
