oh sure, when the skinned and filleted little bodies start showing up hung from the brand new gym's ceiling you can go to the school board meeting and explain to the angry mob why we can't keep little tyler and kayla safe.

We had a cat that almost became a permanent part of the furnishings.

When I was in high school, a wrestling match that involved my brothers and a rocking chair resulted in a fairly large gash in the back of the couch. My parents simply moved the couch so the back of the couch was against the wall, instead of repairing it.

A couple of years later my step-mom decided she wanted the couch back in a position that would expose the damaged back. My father painstakingly sewed up a two foot gash with an upholstery needle. Took him forever. Looked pretty good though, you could barely see the repair.

Dad stood back to admire his handywork. After just a moment he heard a plaintive "Mwoew! Mwoew!" Our cat was inside the couch. Dad cut open the couch and freed the cat. The couch remained as it was for another few years, until finally replaced. But if we'd left the cat in there, he probably would've started to smell.

Poor kitten.

Though personally I was hoping for it to be a story about catnip. :)

I think one of my cats was trapped under a house for about three days or so without food or water, after her mom got killed by a car. She still really easily frightened now.

one of the apartments I used to live at had a 'landlord'. basically, a cat that 'owned' the building. he was fed by everyone, cared for by tenents and was unoffically adpoted by the building (we suspect that he had this racket going on with many apartment complexes on that block.)

one day, a small kitten could be seen following him around. he would protect it, take him around to be fed by the various tenets and was basically showing it (never could determine the sex of the kitten, it was too shy to be approached by people) around.

One day, the "landlord" started showing up alone again. for a couple of days he seemed to just want to hang around people and no one knows what happened to the kitten. Then someone from another apartment said that the kitten was hit by a car and died. :(

Like the works of Man have any impact whatsoever on the ancient ones. However, by keeping poor little Stone alive for the five or six days it took to rescue him, they did avoid a nasty confrontation with Bast. Never think the ancient ones are stupid or can't just take what they want....
