Adding new Features to NS

It's been a while since NS was updated.

Has anyone thought about adding trade features to the game, like cybernations? It would make things a little more interesting, and probably increase nation count.

Just a thought.

Thanks for the links. I followed them, but I don't know what the threads located within those links have to do with adding new features to the current NS game?

I just used trade as an example. Why not add features that would allow nations to purchase things such as land, different types of buildings, military supplies, etc?

I would like to see an open option in issues so individuals can tailor their governments to their own personal theories-the open option wouldn't update the nation until a moderator determined it's effect, which would bog things down, but I've already dismissed issues I will readdress when I can write my own proposals

Sorry, this post would have been a better starting point:

War and trade and such do occur, however, though the mechanism of role play. How this is accomplished is explained in the various sticky threads and FAQs found in the links already provided above.

The importatnt one there was the 3rd one, the one for the NS2 forum. That's where these sorts of threads go.

That's what NS2 is for. Read the stickies there.

]NationStates (the current site) is free to play and going to stay that way. It may or may not be getting some minor new features (watch the News page for details) like better regional management, in-game moderators, and more daily issues, but will essentially remain the same. It will never offer war or trade, for example.

NationStates 2 will be a new game that is a more in-depth version of NationStates: a game that would preserve the flavor of the current game but cater to the more serious gamer. It would offer war, trade, more diplomacy, more nation customization, and a lot of other cool stuff. It's currently in very early development, so almost nothing has been decided yet. But it will almost certainly be a pay-to-play game, with a monthly fee of somewhere in the vague vicinity of US$5 per month.

* "I have a great idea! Just add a few features to NS! Maybe people will donate for it. Oh, and the features I want are war, and trade, and a better UN, and ..." -- The existing NS game will never have war, trade, or any of the other great ideas people have. It would have to be completely rewritten, or in other words, turned into NS2. People will not donate enough, just because the fact that it's voluntary. Everyone will expect everyone else to donate, and anyone who does will have to deal with the fact that people who didn't also get the same features. Why would they bother donating then? Then, there is no incentive for Max to add these features because he wouldn't get much if any money, if anything it would increase the server load that right now he's paying out of pocket for.

The only feature that NS really needs is one that lets you administer groin kicks to other players over the Internet.
Regretfully, in spite of the fact that I have been campaigning for this feature for years and it is quite obviously the best suggestion in the history of suggestions, nothing has come of it.

Thanks for the links. I will check them out.

And while I know this has been discussed before, why not offer a NS store? The store could offer more than just items related exclusively to NS. It could offer other things as well, such as coffee mugs, mousepads, etc.

I bet if the items in the store were reasonably priced, people would buy them.

...mousepads, etc.
People still use these? Weird.
