I have recently decided to official resign from my branch of the Australia Labor Party, and the Tasmanian Young Labor. This is a decision a long time coming, I just fed up with the party (even youth, you wouldn't think it) basically being a bunch of 'community-minded' pragmatists, most trade union apparachiks and downright conservatives, half of them I could bet you have never ever read the Labor Party platform statement regarding socialism.

I haven't done my dues in ages and have let my membership slip so if was going to happen anyways, and the ALP is never going to change, and Rudd federally trying to make the party a centre-right Blairist pro-business faction have infuriated, even more so that the youth movement are pushing this stupid 'Kevin07' American-style garbage with no ideological content, and trying to alienate the union movement. They say 'we have to kick out Howard and the liberals!' yet seldom define how a Rudd government would be any different, it's become a superficial 'my guild is better than yours' factional system rather than a clash of ideals. I can't even talk about the 'socialisation of industry and exchange' as explained by the platform without being looked at funny. It sucks, frankly, half the people at my branch have no idea why they are in the party.

I think I may join the biggest socialist (Leninist) party in Australia, the DLP.

Yeah, you do that. Though I think you may be disappointed. I'm gonna go with the LDP (http://www.ldp.org.au/) and we're all balanced. :)
