Has NSG changed for the worse?

When I got here, it was a happy place. There was only one troll, no slamfests, and very few flames. Now, it seems to be people mindlessly attacking others and trolling a lot, the OP of every thread is slammed, and people are feeding the trolls. I just have to ask, is this (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=13007284&postcount=78) really what's happened? Or am I in some kind of hardcore nostalgia?
I feed trolls for my own amusement.

I've been here off and on for two years now, and it doesn't seem to be any different to me.
Yes, some of the people's answer to any thread is "WTF!? OMFG! You fucking troll!" no matter how cogent the post.
But it's always been that way.

It's changed all right. Though having been here a long time, I'd have to say that overall the improvements outweigh the influx of trolls and the instances of flaming and the like.
There were far more retarded threads when I started out here than there are today. There were more people who flamed; there were more trolls. Generally as rules became more fixed in stone, people started to behave a little better.
We're still not that much better than monkeys who fling shit at each other but hey, evolution didn't happen over night.
It started going downhill long before the OP joined. I can't imagine there much to be "nostalgic" about with regards to October 2006...

It really hasn't changed over the past year since I was around last. (Curse the research lab.) Unfortunately people have become a little more frequent in namecalling for no apparent reason.
It's probably that people have lost a thing called tact and general arguing techniques.

I still remember my first day on NSG. I popped into the forum, my first forum, and was christened to the splattering blood of a troll named 'FireAntz' as Fass eviscerated him in a thread whose topic was too drenched in the freshly dropped bowels of this troll to be of any relevance.
It was that day that I decided I actually quite liked forums, and Fass. If anything, they should instead be called Colloseums, not forums, for it is the verbal bloodsport that brings us all here. None of this shit actully matters, or means anything. We just like skirmishing. It's good excercise, if nothing else. The 'debate' that goes on here would be akin to the 'war' that goes on in Ysgard. Endless, pointless, and ultimately empty, yet concurrently and remarkably satisfying and enjoyable.

Before, there were healthy debates; there were constructive arguments without one side being branded "trolls" because of their views. Now, there is a consensus which has led to group-think; anybody who dares question the status quo is automatically labeled a "troll." Yes, it has changed for the worse.

So yes, things have changed. There have always been flame wars and such, but the amount of social threads and such have rather declined.

Oh, F7 was the old NS server.
The original NS forums were housed on the nationstates.net domain before they grew too large and were moved to Jolt. Each forum was numbered but forum 7 was mysteriously missing. Speculation was that it was the moderator's forum, hidden from public view, but nobody would ever confirm it. Some NS general regulars expanded it into a long running joke and made seperate forums with that name.

I believe NSG is more or less the same, with the noticeable exception of the growing popularity of the annoying and dangerous philosophy that all Muslims right down to every man, woman and child are subhuman, evil and barbaric Al Qaeda jihadis/sympathizers that need to be laid to the ground with their blood and brains spattered all over to make the world a better place.
If almost any religion and its adherents were targeted like that I'd be just as annoyed by that attitude. But 9-11 seems to have made Muslim Bashing a global sport more popular than football in the West.
