I have a little gut, nothing serious but it couldn't hurt to start an exercise routine where I get rid of the gut and shape my abs. What are the best workout for abs?

Running does a lot for the midsection. So do that, along with things such as push ups, prison squats, crunches, and so on, and you should lose that gut in a few weeks.

Leg-lifts, sit-ups and crunches. Although if you're looking for visible Hollywood abs, you'd better lose the gut first, or concurrently.

when you consider exercises for your abs, you must also consider to adapt your eating and drinking habits as well as your daily normal physical activities, you may get abs with exercises but you will still have a layer of fat if you have a high intake of sugars, salts and fats. one exercise will not resolve your problem, your lifestyle can.

I absolutely agree with Baecken. Doin pushups and stuff aint gonna do you any good if you eat a bucket of crap. Thats as stupid as eating low-fat ice-cream to loose weight. I have some advice. When you do pushups, do the first ten regularly, but while your doing them, have a regular 10lb. weight on the floor next to you. After the first ten, pick it up and hold it to your upper chest. Do this for every set of pushups you do: 10 regular, then the rest with the 10 pound weight. Each time you come back to work out two days from then, you will feel an extra reserve of energy in your abs. That extra energy is from using that weight. Also, concentrate on your form as well. Remember to roll up, dont jerk up. If you jerk up, or keep your back strait, you'll only work a certain portion of your abs, usualy your lower abs. You want the full spectrum, so curl up. Also, ignore what people say about how you shouldn't go down all of the way. Go down, but dont rest. Regulate your breathing. It will be hard at first, but its something you must teach yourself. Also, don't work out cold. Get your blood flowing first by running a mile or two. STRETCHING IS KEY! If you dont stretch well, your extremely liable to hurt something.

Do you mean sit-ups?

You're at a level way more advanced than most if you're doing push-ups one-handed.

Just follow my 'Simple method'.

Sit ups. My personal Favourite!
I, I don't know... Just... strech!
Musical instruments. Blowing into instruments Hurt your abs!!!
Push ups! And plenty of them!!!
Leg Lifts. Strech your leg a plenty!
Easy! You're fit already. Now to win the chicks!:cool:

Sex. Lots of it.

Dancing or horse-riding if lots of sex is impractical for you.

I don't say "sit-ups" (though they obviously work for the abs) because abs are really just a cosmetic sign of core body strength, which will serve you far better than some iconic set of muscles. All the muscles balance each other, and overdeveloping one set without the others will just mess with your skeleton.

Disclaimer: In so far as this might be taken as Medical Advice, it should be disregarded. Get a personal trainer, e.g. at your local gym.

Echo what everyone else has said about losing the fat first. That's the biggest thing you can do.

One of the best workouts for the abs is kayaking. Most of the power comes from the body rotation. If you don't have a kayak (or a river, for that matter), see if a gym has a rowing machine that can do the kayak stroke.

I also have to agree with Riopo - musical instruments can actually help. My wife says my stomach is much firmer since I took up the bagpipes....

canoeing helps with the obliques.
I've just got myself a tummy wheel thingy. It's pretty hardcore. I can't do more than 10. Prob not that great in reality but at least it feels like I'm doing something.

Biggest hassle with tummyfat is that the 1st place fat deposits itself on guys and, as a result, the last place it leaves when you're slimming down.
So ya gotta have patience when trying to lose the gut.

Well, they could either be very attractive or just have very low standards. But again, that might not qualify for "good" sex...

look for a video called "8-minute abs"

its an exercise routine that takes .....8 minutes! and works only your abs

turns out that 8 minutes is an eternity.

its dynamite. youll see results in a couple of weeks.
