So I've been playing the Bretonnians for a couple years (without a whole lot of experience) but recently I've started a Dark Elf army.

Haven't really played them yet, but I'm looking forward to it. The tactics involved would be utterly different from Bretonnian tactics, and I am anxious to see how I do with them.

At the moment I have

16 Warriors (spears and shields)
16 Warriors (repeater Crossbows)
1 Highborn on Dark Steed
1 Sorcoress on Cold one
4 Cold one Knights
13 Witch Elves
1 Repeater Bolt Thrower
5 Dark Riders

So if anybody in the Baltimore/Washington area is up for a game, then this is an open challenge!

Meanwhile, what about everyone else? What do NSers play when on the GW tabletop?

I never got into it because I can't paint, my models look like glue balls, and I don't have that much money. Plus none of my friends did it so I'd have to build both armies if I wanted to play.

When I used to go to conventions I was always impressed with the kitbashes that people would make, though. Usually that was 40K though.

My wife did a pretty impressive conversion where she took an evil Dark ELf on a dark Pegasus and converted it into a Wood Elf spellsinger riding a unicorn. That may not sound like a huge transition but with the level of detail she used, it was pretty uber.

She also took a wood elf horse and the headdress of a Bretonnian Knight and made a deer. Making a horse look like a deer ain't as easy as it sounds!

There is only one true army..

The Hordes of Chaos.

*paints thousands of little pewter donkeys*

Bring it.

I never got into it much. Played similiar, lower priced alternitaves briefly, and enjoyed them, but was never really involved and was to broke/busy to become such.

Whoa, Dark Elfs. :)

I have about 3,500 points (4000 if I push it) worth of Dark Elves. I'm in the process of re-buying regiment after regiment though since I bought them when the new edition was released and I just speed-painted them and to be honest... they look like shit now. So, I'm going to paint a new army of Dark Elves. :)

Recently started a Wood Elf army as well, I'm in the process of painting two battalion boxes worth of 'em. I havn't really decided on how I'm going to paint them so I'm trying a few different combinations on a few Glade Guard.

I don't really got any tactics in my head right now since I havn't played for about.. uhm, 6-8 months. But against my brothers friends I usually lost since they always played "Last man standing" and they got 150 orks for every 50 of my elfs. :D But my 24 man strong unit of Cold One knights with a Highborn won me a few games. :)

I've got some Empire troops (which're mostly unpainted and largely unused at the moment). I love my Steam Tank, even if it's mostly useful to roll around, make them say "OMG A STEAM TANK!11", waste loads of effort killing it, and letting the other 2,000-odd points of your army kill them :p

Also, Cannons and Helblaster Volley Guns are awesome. As are detachments. Knights and Pistoliers should be awesome but they usually just wind up getting shot. It's always the cannons and the foot-troops (including detachments) that do all the work.

I play Dwarfs, Empire and Goblins

40k I'm a Space Wolves and Tyranid player

Aside from the first two my armies generally involve a great deal of axes/spears/swords...etc

wait...what ? ...Your dwarf army does NOT feature lots of axes ?

My mates dwarves have more 2handed axes than a lumberjack convention :P

Myself i have Chaos dwarves (old old, i know), loads of undead (like 15k points total, but moslty really ancient minis), a high elf tournament army and some skaven.

for 40k i have Imperial Guard (19k points, only 2 more companies to finish my 4th brimlock Dragoons), Space puppies, Alpha Legion and some Eldar

Russ sucks. My Thousand Sons force is currently 6 wins/0 losses vs Space Wolves.

Mind you, from what I see of the new Chaos Codex will be making me put my Chaos models on a shelf to gather dust for a while.

When I last visited a Games Workshop one of the guys said he'd give me a bunch of tips from his experience playing Dark Elves. Now that they're all at least primered, it may be time to take him up on it...

Meanwhile, I still have so many unpainted Bretonnian Knights demanding attention... but meh. I still haven't forgiven them for being massacred by Skaven.

Skaven!

And after they pwned those Dwarf miners so well...

I have a monster sized undead army that I stopped playing when they split up the books (in whatever edition) making aobut half of my army either useless or non-playable. I still paint the occasional model but I haven't played in years.

Sure. I love my new Rubrics, with AP3 Bolters and a 4+ invulnerable save.

But my army is based on a command squad of Chosen Sorcerors. They're the heart of my army, the place I spent the most time on painting and arranging - and now, they can't be sorcerors. Which means, they can't be Thousand Sons, since they can't be Rubrics either. Which means they have no place in my army.

At least when the new Eldar Codex was released, I could still use all of the models I had for my Ulthwe army IN an Ulthwe army. For now, I'm going to shelve Chaos and wait until Codex: Daemons comes out.
