Why do we still insist on placing people into groups?

I, for one, would love to see a rich, white, Christian male in office. Its time for America to move forward and embrace diversity!

Why do we still insist on placing people into groups?

What do you mean by that?

Are you asking: why do we call black people black? etc..

Or why should it matter if they are black or white?

I agree with the latter.

Why do we generalize individuals into groups, judge the group, and then apply the verdict to the individuals?
It's like an electoral college for stereotypes.

Yeh, turns out people naturally prefer to form into groups rather than an homogeneous mass. Whoda thunk it?

Substitute "individuals" for "we."
Wait... "individuals" is a group...
Well, then I hereby place myself into the subset "confused individuals/hypocrites."

Why do we still insist on placing people into groups?

Because it's easier to shove others into groups, where they can be safely mocked, than it is to actually get to know other people.

Another hot lesbian. :)

If the President is Hispanic, then are there any preferences for the First Lady's appearance besides 'hot'?

And I suppose you will expect to re-define Presidential attire as well.

Not a problem. It might even increase voter turnout among men 18-34.

Chris Rock sums it up perfectly.

Conan O' Brien: So do you think we're ready for a black president?

Chris Rock: I don't know, but we've just gotten through with a retarted one.

I see the presidency as a retard, followed by a more retarded person. With each presidency, the retardation level goes up, intelligence (of the person!) goes down, and America suffers.

I've certainly been trying to eliminate it. Criticizing people when the say a name "sounds Jewish or 'black'"...

There is no way I am letting a white man get into office not in my good home values country! It would be a travesty if that happened.

Black Power people! Say it with me!

i think we all put people into groups because that is what we do socially. we start out with family groups, and then in school we form groups with people whom we like and share similarities with. then, when we get a job, we do the same thing in the workplace.

making other groups feel bad is usually something we do to make ourselves feel better about our own insecurities [that we usually share with said group we "hang" with].

that's bout it, in a nutshell. its life. we are trained to do it since birth. and society only forces us to do it through out life. there are some who take it to the extreme and go so far as to scapegoat and murder the other groups. but thank god that so few do. the rest of us just do it to not feel alone. in order to stop it, you'd have to reprogram your mind. and the only way that's going to happen is if we kill all the old people with their arcaic views on life and then re-educate the youngin's so that they are more accepting.

No I don't think the United States is ready for a white male president... I mean the average american voter is just simply too conservative to vote for a white man; taking that into consideration you must also realize that too few white men are in the economic bracket to be able to afford to run for office without major campaing support by someone who's interests likely will cause the candidate to cheng thier political agendas simply because they owe someone...
