A question for those who still support kepping the US in the tarbaby:

With the current Bush strategy putting all the eggs in the fragile Maliki basket, what is going to happen when the Maliki government finally collapses completely?

Possibly nothing. It's not a particularly strong or effective government, and so losing it won't mean much in effect. The Iraqi parliament would then be forced to try to create a new coalition, and maybe they'll do a better job this time.

Racism! I decry your use of utterly offensive and blatantly demeaning word! You should be drawn and quartered by the all-righteous liberal PC nuts! :D

But in all seriousness, even the Iraqi's don't want Maliki in there. Eventually they'll try to get rid of him, Bush will resist it, Bush will have his way since he's got more guns than the Iraqis, and then the democracy will fall apart. Another failed democracy to go onto the ash heap of history.

How is Iraq currently anything even remotely resembling democracy again?

Oh, I see. Never mind.

Ummmmmm.... you do know where it comes from, I hope? It didn't denote skin color -- it was a trap for Brer Rabbit, who got impatient with it not answering and got his hands and feet stuck in it as he hit and kicked it.... granted the Uncle Remus stories have fallen out of favor but...

Maliki's govt isn't really government, it's just a movement which represents the Shia controlled army which controls portions of the country, as well as Sadr City via the Mahr. The Sunnis and Kurds just do what they want.

Hmmm, maybe Ozz has a different version of the story?

That would be quite odd. Australia doesn't have the large African population the US does, and the story is a variant on one of the Anansi stories of Ghana.

(And why Oz? Was that just the typo or was it something else?)
