It's almost over...what have YOU done this summer?

The end is nigh, though for some working stiffs, the summer doesn't really mean much change in pace anyway. For the rest of us however, I hereby dedicate this thread. What have you done with your summer, and what do you have to look forward to (or dread) as September nears?

Worked a bit, mostly bummed around on NSG 'round the office. Drank a lot on the weekends. Visited some places I haven't been to in a while. Hung out with friends a lot.

Ooh, and went to a really nice sushi place a ways out from where I live.

I have dragged my little ones to four powwows, five feasts, a pilgrimage, and numerous camping trips, including the week long one I just returned from which is an annual family event that sees four generations party down in the woods. We were in bear country, and also getting midnight visits from a lone wolf, but all was well. Oh, and we checked out a corn maze on the way back. It was kind of spooky.

I basically spent my summer spending time with my kids and recovering from my first year of law school. Some days were mind-numbingly dull, but overall, I think the kids had a wicked four months.

I am extremely happy to be returning to school however. I'm freakin' tired. Vacation my ass.

I look forward to band competitions and dread school starting. REALLY dread school starting. Three more years of being compared to my sister, yay! :(

Oh, and I have done nothign this summer except mess around on the internet. I haven't gone swimming. My bathing suit doesn't fit anymore and i can't find any smaller ones :(

This summer:

- Took a history class at uni and got an A.
- Family vacation to Lake Tahoe.
- Played computer games, surfed the web, and watched tv all day.

This summer was pretty nice, but I just wished my brother's ps2 would've have come in sooner, so I could play it longer. I probably won't have as much time during the fall semester.

Just for the record, these are human extremities of the limb persuasion, yes? I'm a little unsure as to the mechanics of hitting someone in the groin with a torso, you see...

Two were definitely feet. One was a fist. The fourth I'm not certain of as I was in the middle of a multiple-person tackle though I suspect it was an elbow. *nod*

Whatcha doing an end-of-summer thread for when my summer ends on October 15th? Honestly, lady, no tact at all. No intercultural sensibility.

So far.. bought hepa sof skirts and even wore them some, had old flatmates move out and new ones in, had my dearest half break my heart when he went to, uh, voluntary solitary confinement holidays for a month but looking forward to having him back next week; I was pseudo-academic finishing some term papers and allegedly studying for my upcoming Latin exam, got some miles on my inline skates, and I'm really looking forward to going on a one-week biking tour to the sea with my friends the beginning of October.

My wife is German, so we spent the majority of time visiting relatives in Schwaebisch Gmuend (sorry, don't know the keystrokes to get the umlauts in there), a small town about 40 km east of Stuttgart. Also went down to Neuschwanstein for a day to celebrate my mum's birthday (they were also in Germany at the same time). I learned how to knit (and purl, increase, decrease, and cable). I worked unpaid overtime every day at my research job because I loved it. I visited my boyfriend and sister. And I learned some life lessons about what it truly means to be happy and to be successful.
I'm dreading my internship and my two classes (microeconomics and transport phenomena, mostly because I'm taking them correspondence). Once again, I feel I probably bit off more than I can chew ... I'm really good at that.

Well, we're hoping to move to Germany in the next few years (she wants to move home, I want to get out of the States), so I'm sure we'll have plenty of opportunities!

I've been to Germany a number of times already, but have spent the majority of the time in the southwest - Wiesbaden, Frankfurt, Stuttgart, Kaiserslautern. I did go through Berlin and Munich back in the early 90s, but haven't been back since. Seems that most of my trips to Europe involve spending copious amounts of time in the pubs of London....

Went to Cleveland, Arizona, and North Carolina.

Caught a bass after like 4 hours of fishing. Then I threw him back.

Got my driver's license.

I got fired

I wrote a book

I survived my husband being very sick, and even though he is still pretty sick I seem to be doing the supportive wife gig much better than I thought I could.

This fall, I have to teach P.E., Spanish, and Creative Writing, I will sub occasionally at the high school, I will continue to homeschool my kids, I will quit most of my other jobs. I will promote the book that was published in April.

In Juli I divided my time between working, sleeping and going out. In August the working was replaced with working for my exams. In September I'll have another month in which I won't have to do anything but sleeping and going out and having fun (and maybe find a room to rent for the next school year, I'm so late with that :(). I also went to two festivals, maybe I'll go to a third one in September, I simply love festivals. I'm still unsure of what I'm doing come september, which is sorta unnerving. After initially planning to live in Maine for a year or so, it seems as if I'm going to get a job and take a few community college courses around here. Also, I need to apply for real colleges. Bleh.

Well, my last exam was on the 31st May, so I drank a fair bit around that period. We threw a monster houseparty a few days after that, which started with beer bongs and in the garden and ended with hippies, chavs and drum n bass, a combination I could happily never repeat. Then I went camping for 2 days in North Wales with various medics and some general friends, wherein I crashed my car (twice in one day, bloody wet grass), we met the two biggest whores I've ever met (and I've met whores) who had a threesome with my mate and exposed themselves for pics, and various people got so drunk they passed out at 2pm, 5pm and 7pm variously.

After that came some rather hazy time, more booze and various vaccinations for an upcoming trip, including a night in Lancaster Uni where some old school friends and I managed to get so drunk we were kicked out of their own college bar. Twice. Before nightfall.

Anyway, two days after that I went to Bangkok, then to Vietnam for Hanoi, Ha Long Bay, Hoi An, Nha Trang, a 5 day bike tour to Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) via Da Lat, followed by Cambodia's Phnom Penh, Siem Reap and the close-by temples of Angkor Wat and its ilk (the biggest ancient civilisation complex in the world, also where Tomb Raider was filmed :p), then back to Thailand for the full moon party on Ko Pha Ngan, across to Ko Tao and back to Bangkok before going back home. Best 6 weeks of my life, probably, with far too much to go into detail about. However, I'm now a certified scuba diver, I know what it's like to be given rohypnol, I've been offered sex for a price more times than I care to recount and I've spent time in a foreign hospital. Good times :D

Since then I've spent a week shadowing various consultant oncologists at my local hospital (last week), I'm off to Leeds festival this weekend, I'm arranging some voluntary work at the local hospice, I'm trying to find an event to attend for Cancer Research UK and I'm going to apply for medicine come 1st September. All in all, pretty full summer :S

So far I've nto done much at all so far, except for a couple short trips to Calif. At least one one of those trips I got some threesome action :p so that counts as making good use of a summer I suppose.

The rest of the year there will bring a couple more travels to Calif. One to LA for a travelling Cirque Du Soleil show and one to San Fran. to see my wifes sister who is recently divorced and to also check out the Ghirardelli chocolate festival.

Then in Oct we'll be hopefully hitting a masquerade fetish ball in Cali with some friends and in November a vacation to Sedona Ariz. for wifeys bday

The end is nigh, though for some working stiffs, the summer doesn't really mean much change in pace anyway. For the rest of us however, I hereby dedicate this thread. What have you done with your summer, and what do you have to look forward to (or dread) as September nears?

I organised an event for 25 foreign students for 2 weeks. I'm for 1 week in Romania right now. I worked for 1 week. +1 week of preparation of the 2 week event and some days of rest means that summer is over friday :(

Well, I made a "What did you do this summer" (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=534014) thread :p

And my highlights were:

This summer I've had a three week vacation, and I've visited Washington DC (http://i170.photobucket.com/albums/u275/Gravlen/Trip%20to%20the%20US/DSC01554.jpg), Baltimore (http://i170.photobucket.com/albums/u275/Gravlen/Trip%20to%20the%20US/DSC01665.jpg), Philadelphia (http://i170.photobucket.com/albums/u275/Gravlen/Trip%20to%20the%20US/DSC01691.jpg), New York (http://i170.photobucket.com/albums/u275/Gravlen/Trip%20to%20the%20US/DSC01779.jpg), Las Vegas (http://i170.photobucket.com/albums/u275/Gravlen/Trip%20to%20the%20US/DSC01880.jpg), Los Angeles (http://i170.photobucket.com/albums/u275/Gravlen/Trip%20to%20the%20US/DSC01943.jpg), Pismo Beach (http://i170.photobucket.com/albums/u275/Gravlen/Trip%20to%20the%20US/DSC01992.jpg) and San Fransisco (http://i170.photobucket.com/albums/u275/Gravlen/Trip%20to%20the%20US/DSC02021.jpg). It was a nice journey which also included a wedding and meeting two real-life Generalites :D Wohoo! :fluffle: (Ilie and Dubsy!)

Three weeks, and I'd like a couple more...

It was great to fly over New York - used Liberty Tours:
http://i170.photobucket.com/albums/u275/Gravlen/Trip%20to%20the%20US/DSC01756.jpg

It was actually my first ever helicopter ride, and I loved it!

As was my feelings towards NYC, it's a wonderful city. (Well, Manhattan is - I didn't venture outside of that borough...)

I wasn't there very long, but long enough to get to see the famous landmarks like the UN (http://i170.photobucket.com/albums/u275/Gravlen/Trip%20to%20the%20US/DSC01831.jpg), the Chrystler building (http://i170.photobucket.com/albums/u275/Gravlen/Trip%20to%20the%20US/DSC01741.jpg), Times Square (http://i170.photobucket.com/albums/u275/Gravlen/Trip%20to%20the%20US/DSC01744.jpg), and Wall street (http://i170.photobucket.com/albums/u275/Gravlen/Trip%20to%20the%20US/DSC01802.jpg) :D

Oh, and this is what 10$ will get ya:

If you're ever going to 'Vegas,
Never stay at the PINK FLAMINGO hotel and casino.

It's old, run-down, boring compared to the other casinos, the staff is lacking in friendliness and they'll try to swindle you from the moment you arrive.

There. That should be worth a buck ;)

Ooh, where you going to? Aside from being permanently skint, the student lifestyle really is the best one going :p

Sounds like a blast. Yeah I can't wait for classes to start again.

...though Quantum Mechanics is going to kick my ass.

Just consider it a rite of passage...One that really, really sucks.

If you're a really curious type, try expressing classical motion as a function of probabilities. It's a neat analogy that might give you a little insight into quantum motion... Or it may just be frustrating.

Anyway, it's not as hard as those damned diagonal sudokus.

I'm not at university until October:D

However, this summer, I've; -passed my driving test, and got a speeding ticket.

- got AAAAB at A level.

- got deported from Poland.

- worked an obscene amount of overtime at Somerfield.

- become a full time Morrissey/ Smiths addict.
