Gun Manufacturers

I saw something at a convenience store yesterday this: http://www.wired.com/images/slideshow/2007/05/gallery_valueadding/big-ox-oxygen.jpg. After seeing this, I had to wonder, have we as consumers become so stupid, that we'll buy anything that claims to give us an edge in our daily lives? Apparently so, since after doing some research online, I found out that there are other brands, and also oxygen bars (where people go to breath oxygen).

Well, with all of the co2 emissions that might actually be a good thing

And there I was, thinking flavored water was the stupidest thing in the world.

The oxygen bars in Tokyo don't particularly surprise, at least not when I get told that Tokyo is very polluted.

But I'm still reminded of Space Balls. Which I guess is what Gun Manufacturers was referencing. Which might be why I'm reminded of the film.

Oxygen bars = actually popular in the more pretentious crowd. Makes you a bit high, even if it's far too expensive, so I can see the appeal of it.

Silly noobs, pure oxygen is poisonous. (I tihnk)

It causes gradual damage to the lungs over the course of days. (But not if you're in space, for some reason)

pure oxygen increases your metabolism and does get you a little bit high (though in an entirely non-addictive way.) It makes one feel more awake and alert, and slightly euphoric, at least while they're breathing it. It's an ongoing rumor that casinos pump their rooms full of pure oxygen, in order to keep patron's more awake and excited.

It's not true. Trust me, in a casino, pumping pure oxygen into the room would be an extremely bad idea. I used to work at one, and the amount of ignition sources (cigarettes, cigars, lighters, electronics, etc) would cause explosions.

Its like the DVD rewinder... some enterprising induviduals taking advantage of those who are so obssessed with being consumers theyw ill buy almost anything. I say good for the people who came up with it; thats pure capitolism.

Maybe pumping slightly elevated oxygen levels works,... since it makes you a little light-headed and to lose inhibition (especially when gambling).

If people will buy it than it is a product that can and should be sold (with the obvious exceptions of things like human life and stuff). Yes, consumers are gullible; maybe not stupid but definatly gullible. The first rule of sales is that everyone wants to spend thier money, the trick is finding what they want to spend it on, if you can make people think that they want to buy it then they will galdly do so regardless of whether or not its silly, or useless, or whatever; especially in a convieniance store.

If you don't like that... kiss my gas prices!

With all due respect to the manufacturing sector of the world, everything vital to human survival was created thousands of years ago. Since then, everything has been frosting on the cake.
I consider this product a very, very fluffy frosting. But what else are you going to do with fifty extra bucks?
