Do you have a cell phone?

I feel old. My cell phone is like 2, maybe even 3 years old. It's kinda heavy and chunky and doesn't have anywhere near the cool options everyone else's does. Oh, no!
This got me to thinking about how not only are the newest, coolest models of cell phone so damn prevalent - in my little society, everyone I know has one. Except for the preschooler and the baby. - but cell phones themselves are. And like a lot of people who grew up without the existence of a technology (say, computers or cell phones) and who then witnessed the birth of that technology, I had a moment of WTF where I just tripped out on how fast culture changes due to technological cancer-like abundance.
Perhaps a better question for this would be... do you NOT have a cell phone?
I get a new phone every year on my contract. Score!

but i LOVE it
mainly because almost a year ago, i had a real kickass phone, then i broke it and got a different one, and i HATED it
i mean, with a PASSION
because if you're gonna be passionate about something, it might as well be your cell phone

i have a cell phone that i use to make and recieve calls when i am away from home.
my niece recently passed her camera phone on to me when she needed a new one because she changed servers. i have a camera to take pictures with, i have no interest in using the crappy lens on a camera phone. i certainly have no need to read and compose email on my phone, listen to music on my phone, watch music videos on my phone, or browse the net on my phone.

I've got two. One is my own, but I never use it unless I'm back home or texting someone (which is never). And then my crappy work phone, one of those yellow motorola phones that you can go play baseball with but not really cause the suck the nut. I'm on my 2nd one of those, the first had "unobvious water damage" according to motorola.
No, I have a mobile phone :p

Heh ;)
I have an N-Gage, which I bought a couple of years ago because it was cheap and has a built-in FM radio (which was really the main thing I used my mobile for at the time). Sometimes my boss or girlfriend actually calls it.
It does seem to enjoy corrupting the MMC when I put music on it though :(

We call them mobile phones here. :p
Yeah, I have one. Not only is it two years old, the phone uses technology that is about to be discontinued for public use (it's a CDMA phone, and the technology has been superceded by 3G technology). It's definitely showing it's age - the camera in it's crap. In fact, my standalone digital camera's crap. Most phones have about the same quality in their cameras now...

I have had a cell phone since the 80's. Started out with a suitcase phone that could be carried about. The second phone I had was one of those brick phones that would get so hot after talking awhile one had to put it down or risk burning their hand.

Yep. Though the particular phone I have is a result of O2's incompetence and/or deafness of their "retentions" department. I specify I want a one-piece (ie. not a flip or slide design) phone that's not black. I get a Motorola RIZR Z3 (a slide design), which is, you guessed it, black. The contract's cheap-as-chips, mind (and the phone itself was free), so I didn't complain.

I must confess I find the camera and video on my phone bloody useful at times; generally concerts, when trolleyed or when I'm on a vanity rampage, but the walkman serves little purpose, what with my IPod holding more songs.
Not sure why I signed up to a £25 per month contract to be honest, except to get a snazzy new phone free.

Me too! I had the kickass Sony Erricson w600i. Greatest phone ever made in my opion. It broke![WHY?!?!:( ]Anyway they replaced it with an LG CU500. It was so inferior. Had not nearly half the features.I used to think well a phone's a phone. It's meant to call people. Well upon comparing the two I missed my 600. Plus even though I had the same network I got much, much worse service. I traded it in. Now I have my Sony Errison 810i. It's great.Totally awesome. I know what you're thinking, it's the same phone. Yes, but I still miss my 600.

I was seriously knocked unconscious. If it hadn't been for a friend being with me(who got some serious headaches from that bloody relay station) I may have died.

The key is dose. The amount of actual energy produced by a cellphone transmitter is really tiny compared to a station of any sort. Never mind that one is already being bombarded with all sorts of radio and other electromagnetic energy (human made or otherwise) as it is anyway, all with no permanent brain damageAMAGEamageAMAGE!@#!@#$%*$&^^$&^CARRIER LOST

There were no fences...it was just high up on top of a mountain we were climbing.

There were warning signs all over the place that we stupidly ignored...

I have an electronic leash. Mostly I try to ignore it, but occasionally, it's been useful. A couple of times I've forgotten my camera and used the phone for pictures - the quality isn't as good as the camera, but it does the job.
Due to the high cost of fixed phone service contracts (3 times higher than mobiles), it's only reasonable that we all have mobiles in Belgium.
