So you're saying it would have been actually noticed amongst the massive amount of posts that are already accumulating in the other thread?

Aww, and all I did was email bush, both of my senators, and my congressman demanding that Kenenth be set free...

Yes. We don't need two threads running concurrently on the same topic.

That said, the other one has died somewhat. But then it would definately have been noticed.

I never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever sign online petitions.

Except for this one.

And I'm glad I've just signed. :)

I do seriously think that the people who live near death row should stage a huge protest, maybe riot. I think that they should do whatever they have to untill they are noticed.

The only way this guy is getting off death row is if he stages a hunger strike to raise public awareness about his case.

I was thinking something more along the lines of violence, rioting, looting, etc.

I posted this in the other thread, but it is more relevant here so I'll repost it:

I sent an email last night through this website (http://www.democracyinaction.org/dia/organizationsORG/tmn/campaign.jsp?campaign_KEY=12310&t=kenneth.dwt) to the members of the Texas legislature. I'm from Australia and blah blah America is losing its way blah blah injustice blah. This morning I got a lot of out of office automatic replies but I also got this reply from the office of Dan Flynn:

Thank you for your thoughts and concerns. Unfortunally your comments are lacking in true facts. If you have lost faith in the US you are in a great place to enjoy your life. Good luck and may God bless.

Just checked my facts and I was completely correct. The guy is going to be executed even though he didn't murder anyone. And lol that they didn't even spell unfortunately correctly. Also at them writing 'true fact'- what else would a fact be? Does this guy have his nine-year old grandson answering emails or something?

Several of our agents are already engaged in strategic clowning missions. All will be well, people. *nod* :)

Pity our efforts to reverse the Iraq war have been stymied by those damn Shriners and their little cars.

"Yeah."
"Nah, they have spending money too."

Yep, an internet petition is going to save him.

Internet petitions come from real people. Those who provide their real names can be checked ro see if they have made up a name or to see if they are people who live in the area. Thus, a senator or whoever sees a massive bunch of citizens demanding action, and that will hopefully cause him/her to do so.

Also if they see people from around the world are getting increasingly pissed off, then hopefully they'll start thinking sensibly.

no offense, but when it comes to local and state politics, international pressure means about as much as a cow to a vegetarian

so no matter how many times you damn foreigners keep emailing my state legislatures, it's not going to do damn thing except add more emails to their junk file

It's gone too far for all that. It's a matter of pride now. If they relent then they'll be confirming that their laws are a load of rubbish.

I'm kidding. My mom's father, whom was beat to death in a Vietnamese PoW camp, was from Houston. Not sure how that disqualifies him as a nut case, but my mom says he was the most kind hearted Christian you could ever meet.

It's not like you guys elected Arlin Specter, and Rick Santorum.

"Magic Bullet Theory." and "Gay marriage is a slippery slope to bestiality."

I didn't say it was a good thing. But it's just the way it always happens. Stubbornness sets in and it becomes easier to let events take their course rather than do anything about it.

So it's just a case of:

We understand all the objections to this case, and frankly we feel for the guy, but you have to understand that the paperworks all done now, there's nothing we can do

Pretty much, but what can you do about it? Your best hope is that they'll quietly change the law after the fact to stop it happening again.
