The best part of moving...

...is when you realize that you can't legally have "open" bottles of alcohol (i.e. bottles that have been opened) in the car so you have to drink the rest of your booze.

Yeah, I get to move out tomorrow. I'm kinda sad about it because I'm leaving town and unlike the move out of my parents' house I don't really have anywhere to come back to (apart from crashing on friends' couches) and I'm going to miss them. Although I'll make new friends and all...

Anyone wish to share their moving experiences?

Mexican Lowrider. Moved 1000km to the north for work in February, so I packed my Escort to the tits and I had me a lowrider. Funny thing is, whenever I come back home (3rd trip right now) I always carry more up. Getting everything back down will be an adventure.

When I move apartments, it always surprises my family. they always complain about how slow I move. how I always put things off till the last moment...

then when the moving van or what not appears (rented by them) they look inside and find that all of my funiture has been moved to the new place (by myself) as well as most of my small items.

but I never say no to the extra help in cleaning up the place and restoring it to near pre-rental condition.

yep... I move so slowly, that they never see me move. ;)

Oh yeah, I know that feeling. I'm pretty sure that before I moved into this place I'd moved a bunch of things into my parents' house and I've been gradually moving things back and buying more things so this move should be somewhat interesting.

I don't really remember properly moving house (only being young), but moving to and from uni can be quite a pain. Although, it does kinda show what items are really necessary for you, but packing them up every 9 weeks gets annoying.

Every 9 weeks?

I've been at uni for 5 years and I've only moved three times (this will be the fourth). The shortest amount of time I stayed at any one place was 8 months (when I lived on campus). Although this will be the first time I'm moving to a new city since I've started post seconday.

Well, I suppose it's a bit peculiar to my uni. Terms are 9 weeks long and halls of residence are provided throughout so only really get rented for termtime, not all-year round like at other places. I could move out and rent a flat, but it would cost more.

... more like they look at me while I'm watching tv, then I move a shelf to my new apartment, then they look at me as I play a video game, then I move my bed to the new apartment, then they watch me web surf, then I move another shelf... then they bitch about why I'm not packing to move stuff... :D

I have personally moved 12 times, and been in the moving 'industry' for almost a decade. I have more moving stories than I know what to do with. :p

Isn't it legal to transport open bottles in the trunk? Sounds like fun anyway, though. :p

My favorite part of moving is the free loot you get for assisting someone else when it's their time to leave town. :)
