Who is the most charismatic Presidential Candidate? (Not your Favorite)
Who is the most charismatic Presidential Candidate. Not necessarily your favorite, just who you think is the most charismatic?
I understand it should not be a criterion, but we all know it becomes one...

Giuliani, he speaks so well for someone who is a pile of useless.
What made me realize this was at the debate when him and Ron Paul were going at it and he had all the nice words and Paul had all of the actual content.

Well a good orator has long defined who becomes the elected politician, goes all the way back to Rome.

Obama is the only one that is even close.
Hillary (while probably the smartest) has this negative thing going. I don't have a clue how she expects to get elected. The others are basically nonpersonalities. No positive or negative.
Republicans traditionally (with the exception of Reagan) are totally uncharismatic. I think that's because charisma has something to do with inspiring people with a positive view of the future. Conservative by definition is a stable view of the future.

Mitt Romney has a media - friendly appeal. He's not my favorite candidate but he's good looking in a smarmy kind of way.
Hilary is going to get the Dem nomination IMHO .

Obama has a positive exuberance about him that none of the other candidates, be they democrat or republican really even come close to.
He is not, however, my favorite candidate, or candidate of choice
But I must admit, he does seem to be the most charismatic, and VERY photogenic

HOT
Of the republicans, Romney
Of the democrats, Obama
These two are the most charismatic. Between them, it kinda depends on your political ideology to say who is more charismatic.
It isn't hard for these two though, most candidates aren't charismatic. You only get a few FDRs or JFKs.

Obama is JFK possibility level according to many, some of the most optimists are calling him a future Martin Luther King Jr. level charismatic.
He has the highest youth ratings so far I have heard.

Considering his politics, I would first think to compare his charisma to a very different historical orator.
Anyway, all the current crop of politicians leave me feeling meh.

although he isn't a candidate I still think Bush has way more charisma than any of them. Who else could have swelled the ranks of Al Qaida so quickly, got to hand it to Bush he makes killing people over religion fun.

You're right about it's status as a criteria, so I view the question as I would, "who has the nicest hair?" or the coolest suit.
Obama is clearly the most charismatic. With nothing much to distinguish him as a candidate or a politician he has a popularity normally reserved for movie stars. That's based on nothing other than his own charisma.
Personally I prefer John Edwards, but it's because of what he stands for, not how cool he is or my faith in the likelihood of he and I one day sharing meatloaf and beer.

If he were a member of Al Qaida, that would count as charisma. While etymologically is means "gift from god," in English it means a personality that draws others to him.
True to his word Dubya did indeed turn out to be a uniter not a divider. But he did so by uniting people against him.

I remember JFK and I remember Bobby and MLK. Obama has some potential but is still a long way from any of them. I guess it will depend on if he becomes president and does a good job. JFK had a little zing while running, but not the level at his death. It was his openness to the public and his bringing a youthful spirit back to the country after the Eisenhower years that really made him. Kind of what Clinton did after Reagan but more so. Can you imagine any president since that would have the entire country in shock and forlorn if he had died? Most would have half the country saying "good riddance".
Bobby received his brother's love from the people and was the most charismatic person I've seen as a candidate. It's hard to say if he could have maintained it as president. Carter was charismatic as a candidate but not as a president.
MLK was loved and totally hated. He was such a great speaker that everyone would stop to listen. At the same time he was totally despised by probably 40-50% of the population. It took at least 20 years for him to gain the respect of a significant majority of the people. Then in the minds of many it was by comparison to the more radical black leaders that followed. It would have helped if his death would have brought a quiet mourning rather than riots. The riots proved in the mind of many that he was a leader of anarchy rather than a leader of peace. The riots probably cost the black population 10-20 years of advancement.
Whether we want to admit it or not, that hate is still out there only more subdued. Johnson said when he signed the civil rights act that the Democrats would never again take the south. He was right.

Probably Fred. He's a charmer, they say.
Obama looks plain awkward to me.
Barack Obama. After all, he is able to generate complete hysteria without the slightest amount of real substance.

I've seen black mormons, so I don't think so. However, I do recall them believing at one point that blacks carried the sin of Cain in the form of the darkened skin - however, I think they've dropped that belief since. :p

Yeah I just looked it up, they dropped it just in time for the passage of the Civil Rights Act ...

Dennis Kucinich. It helps that he's basically the only one who doesn't seem to be pandering to the lowest, common denominator. Also he looks kind, and not evil like the others.

Exactly! One just wants to give him a hug and a tickle.

I don't think he's loopy - he's quirky. In fact, now that I've read about his stances, had I been unfortunate enough to be a citizen of the USA, he would have had my vote. Too bad he doesn't stand a chance in the USA - he's much too sane for that.

Obama triumphs massively, distantly followed by Romney.
Edwards is entirely uncharismatic, from my point of view. He just emanates 'creepy southern necro-pedophillic sleazeball' wherever he goes.

Lol, yea Dennis Kucinich is funny but has some great stances as well as a lot of wisdom.
