How can this sort of stuff slip through, this company had been defrauding the government sense 2000, 7 YEARS of crazy over charging of shipping and it slipped through the cracks. I mean for the love of god 20 million is not chump change even for a big department.

The price the military paid for each item shipped rarely reached $100 and totaled just $68,000 over the six years in contrast to the $20.5 million paid for shipping, she said.

Even with some of it probably being real priority shipments to combat areas it is still flipping ridiculous, SOME flag should have gone up when shipping was 294 times the cost of the parts themselves (average for the 20 .5 mil dollars ... actually higher then that forgot the .5)

It's the government. This is what government does. What do expect from an organization run by politicians?

The one with access to nuclear weapons and a history of using them on civilians? Just a suggestion.

Man, I should really start shipping for the pentagon to pay for my mansion.

On a positive note, at least we found out that this is going on and put a stop to it. But who knows what else is going on up there.

Perhaps if they had placed an order over $50 dollars, shipping would have been free. I mean, nothing like having and extra 262 or so washers hanging around.;)

you blame the government for this? clearly its the company that exploited the system. yes the system looks flawed if it doesn't check things like this, but still... its the company that chose to defraud the government in the name of greed.

i hope the company gets taken to the cleaners

The company was just the tool. This is a part of what's called Military-Industrial Complex. When people inside Pentagon know their contractors personally and share illegal money obtained from the budget through fake bills.
