01. Loving You - 1957 - Poll
Elvis' second movie and his first in color was the 1957 Paramount film 'Loving You'. A young truckdriver Deke Rivers (Elvis Presley) is discovered as a singer by a press-agent, Glenda Markle (Lizabeth Scott) during an election-campaign. She contracts him for a band. His success grows bigger from performance to performance, but he has to choose between the press-agent, who is responsible for his success, and the female-singer of the band, Susan Jessup (Dolores Hart), who he likes very much.

02. Jail House Rock - 1957 - Poll
This was Elvis' first film for MGM. After starting work on the soundtrack on
April 30, he reported to the lot on May 6, 1957 for costume fittings, makeup
tests and dance rehearsals. He was assigned to Clark Gable's former dressing room.

Vince Everett (Elvis Presley) was sent to prison after being convicted of
Manslaughter. When his cell-mate Hank Houghton (Mickey Shaughnessy), a country & western singer, recognizes Vince's singing-talent they make a
contract to perform together and to share the profit. Once out of jail, Vince
tries unsucessfully to get a job as singer however only after he has help from Peggy van Alden (Judy Tyler) does he achieve success and they start a record-company together. Vince seems only to be interested in fame and
fortune until a confrontation with Hank, who doesn't accept his behavior.

During the fight Vince's throat gets injured, which puts his career in danger.
After recovering everyone rallys round to see Vince get his voice back and
realise the error of his ways. The films highlights are the 'Jailhouse Rock'
sequence and The 'Don't Leave me' Now recording studio sequence where
Vince finds his style.

03. King Creole - 1958 - Poll
Elvis Presley's most critically acclaimed performance as an actor was in what is considered (rivaled only by 'Jailhouse Rock') the best of all the films he starred in - 'King Creole' (1958). The story was based upon the Harold Robbins novel 'A Stone For Danny Fisher'. Elvis played the role of Danny.

The film was directed by Michael Curtiz. Danny Fisher (Elvis) coming up from the ghetto to seek fame and fortune as a singer in the New Orleans Jazz clubs. Along the way he tangles with gangland boss Maxie Fields (Walter Matthau) and love interest Ronnie played by Carolyn Jones.

04. Flaming Star - 1960 - Poll
Flaming Star, Elvis loved this movie because it a was a seriouswestern movie where he could show his acting skills, not just songs, girls and fun.

Elvis' sixth movie was 'Flaming Star'. A serious western movie no only displaying the singer Elvis and his songs. Elvis plays under direction of Don Siegel (Dirty Harry) the son of a Indian mother and a white father.

Originally the role was meant to be done by Marlon Brando. The original title
of the movie was 'Black Star', but that was changed because of commercial
goals.

05. Blue Hawaii - 1961 - Poll
Elvis Presley's eighth film was 'Blue Hawaii', filmed in the tropical paradise of the Hawaiian islands of Oahu and Kauai. 'Blue Hawaii' was Elvis' biggest
commercial success. With fourteen songs, more than any other Elvis film,
the soundtrack album spent a total of 79 weeks on Billboard's pop album
chart, with 20 of those weeks at #1.

After two years in the army Chad Gates (Elvis), heir of an pineapple-plantation, returns to Honolulu. According his family he has to take over the plantation and marry a girl of his own standing. But he wants to achieve something by his own and starts a job as a travelagent, on the same agency where is friend Maile (Joan Blackman) works. He goes his own way and finally he starts his own business together with Maile.

The famous wedding scene was shot on Kauai at the Coco Palms Resort Hotel which had been in operation since 1953. Unfortunately, the resort closed after Kauai was hit with devastating Hurricane Iniki in September 1992. In the 1800s, the land where the Coco Palms is located was the ancestral home of Kauai's last reigning queen, Queen Deborah Kapule. The "Call to Feast" featured in the film with its ceremonial torch lighting had taken place there every night at 7:30 PM for 40 years until Iniki hit.

Maile (Joan Blackman) greets Chad (Elvis Presley) in Blue Hawaii
Elvis loved Hawaii. It was one of his favorite places to vacation and this movie provides us with a glimpse into the beauty of these islands. That combined with the romantic tropical music Elvis sings creates within us all
the desire to visit 'Blue Hawaii'.

06. Kissing' Cousins - 1964 - Poll
Kissin' Cousins Elvis' fourteenth film was 1964's Kissin' Cousins. In this film Elvis played the dual role of look-alike cousins: Josh Morgan, a dark-haired air force officer, and Jodie Tatum, a blond mountain man.

In 'Kissin' Cousins' there is a group of lusty mountain maidens called The
Kittyhawks, who are in search of men and descend upon Josh Morgan
(Elvis) and the platoon of soldiers who accompany him to the Tatum's
home on Big Smokey Mountain.

The actress cast as the leader of this group was Maureen Reagan, daughter of the late President Ronald Reagan and actress Jane Wyman. She had made her movie debut in 1949 in 'It's A Great Feeling', which spoofed Hollywood and featured a cameo by her and her parents. She also appeared in the film 'Hootenanny Hoot', which 'Kissin' Cousins' producer Sam Katzman and director Gene Nelson had just finished filming. Before her death from cancer in 2001, she went on to a second career in politics.

07. Roustabout - 1964 - Poll
Elvis' sixteenth movie was the 1964 Paramount film 'Roustabout'.
Elvis becomes a Carnie at a Carnival thats going under, popular with the young crowd and the girls Elvis as a singer brings it back to life, there is a
big rival carnival trying to bring it down and take it over.

Having at one time been a carnival worker, the idea for a picture with a
carnival background had been that of Colonel Tom Parker, Elvis' manager.
However, Colonel was adamant that the movie 'not cheapen carnival
life....that this was a wholesome way of life in which the participants had a
legitimate pride'.

08. Clambake - 1967 - Poll
Elvis' twenty-fifth film was the 1967 United Artists movie 'Clambake', a story
perhaps inspired by Mark Twain's 'The Prince and The Pauper'. In 'Clambake' Elvis plays the rich young Scott Heyward, who trades places with the poor but happy Tom Wilson, played by Will Hutchins. Scott is eager to be accepted for himself and not his money, while Tom seeks to know the
ifestyle that money can bring.

I included Clambake because of all the Hot Girls.
