Tech question: What kind of TV tuner should I buy?

I'm thinking of getting a TV tuner for the XBox 360 functionality. I'm using a pay TV (Optus with Foxtel), and it has an RF out that goes into the TV tuner.

So, should I buy an analog tuner, or digital, or what?

You can use the 360 like a set top box if you have a TV tuner, so you can pause and rewind TV and shit.

And keep in mind, I'm not asking for opinions; I'm asking which will work. I don't wanna buy a digital tuner and find it out won't connect with RF or something,

can you? how? 'cos i have a 360 and that sounds cool!

though if you don't just want opinions perhaps you should make that clearer in your OP

can you? how?It could work, but to be useful your Xbox need to be fit with a 200 Gig HD.. at least.

Easy. Get a TV tuner, a 360, and a computer with Windows Media Center. Network it all up, and you'll be able to stream TV to your comp and your 360, and both will be able to act like set top boxes.

It's pretty basic stuff.

ah windows media centre would be the problem there... meh. might be swapping for a 360 Elite sometime soon though...

whatever happened to IPTV on the 360 anyway?

See if you get dual-tuner - one which works with analogue and digital broadcasts. I know with the ones for PCs - you can actually run the analogue and digital separately, recording two streams of TV. I don't know if dual-tuners work on the XBOX 360 or not.

That's not an issue, I only have one TV.

That's not an issue, I only have one TV.I don't think coax cable carries digital TV signals. It can carry audio, but not video, let alone both.

I presume you're going to have a set up like follows. Tuner -> Xbox -> TV

In which case what you really want to know is if the Xbox receives a digital signal, will it output an analogue signal. It probably will.

Actually, it goes: TV -> tuner -> Windows Media Centre -> XBox 360.

I got a digital tuner, and I can't connect it to the TV yet, need to buy cables. But I'm using the composite in feature to connect to my PS2. What's the best program for using a tuner?
