NS Fantasy Football!

A thread to gauge interest in another NS Fantasy Football league this year.

We've had successful leagues each of the last two NFL seasons, and it's been a lot of fun.

Post here if your interested! :)

Fantasy Football: Dungeons and Dragons for kids who used to beat up kids who played Dungeons and Dragons.

I'd be in if I actually, you know, followed football. I mean, I follow my team, I try to watch all there games and know whats going on, but I don't even attempt to try follow everything else.

Sure - I'll give it a whirl. If there are enough participants, at least. :)

Count me in as a returning failure from a previous year. Kept my team afloat into the playoffs despite season-ending injuries to McNabb and Bulger, but collapsed in the first round. Two years ago, I think? No matter. This year, victory will be mine!

I've got friends that do fantasy sports and I don't know how they find the time or interest.
Some other analogies that work are comparing Mechwarrior 4 to Microsoft Flight Simulator.

Shit, I'd have to agree with you here. I can't find any way to possibly keep up with fantasy stats as well as my friends do. Heck, now they even do other fantasy sports.
However, you can't compare DnD to fantasy football. That's like comparing Mechwarrior 4 to Microsoft Flight Simulator or, say, Forza Motorsport 2.

I don't know, an obsession over a stat based game with fantastical players? Seems like a good comparison to me.

Well, at least you won't come in last - if I'm playing, that is. :p

Counting myself, that's five already...

...we need at least 8. If we could get 12, that would be even better.

Yahoo's been good to the NS league the last two seasons...any objections to using them again this year?

No objections from me. However, a brief explanation of how the whole thing works might be good for those of us (if there's anyone else, that is) who have never played it before. ;)

True, and I edited my post once I reconsidered. I was a bit late, as you can see.
As for fantasy: I'll be playing fantasy football this fall, but only with those at my school - I'm not going to be able to muster enough dedication to update my roster past one league, so...
PS: Pete (and anyone else who doesn't know), you manage a team you make from other, real teams' rosters in the sport. They make points based on their performance, and this amount is based on the rules of your league (one may reward a point every 10 yards a runningback makes, for example, even if that player doesn't necessarily score any points). You have a draft before the real-life season begins, and every week that games take place in real life you face off against somebody else's team.

Well, we have a live draft sometime towards the end of August. That's the trickiest part, since anyone who can't be online at that particular time will have to have Yahoo autodraft for them.

After that, Yahoo does most of the work for us. Rosters are easy to maintain, scheduling is automatic, injury reports are timely, trading is easy to manage. You just have to double check your roster before the weekend (I usually do so on Friday) to make sure all your postitions on your roster are filled.

Pretty much all we need to worry about is a scoring system. I'll go searching for the old thread in a bit and post the system we used last season.

Sounds reasonable enough. :) Guess I'll set up a Yahoo account once we have everyone on board.

I'll be back to make an upset-frenzy playoff run like I did last year.

That, and change my lineup more than a basketball coach on speed. I abused the Cinci WRs last year.

Field Goals 30-39 Yards (3)
Field Goals 40-49 Yards (4)
Field Goals 50+ Yards (5)
Point After Attempt Made (1)
Point After Attempt Missed (-4)

DEFENSIVE
Sack (1)
Interception (3)
Fumble Recovery (3)
Touchdown (6)
Safety (6)
Block Kick (2)

Are those the same numbers & setup from last year?

When will you create the league? (assuming you're organizing)

(semi-bump)
Delator

Yes, it's the same setup as last year, and yes, I will likely get the league set up sometime this weekend.

There's the matter of more people, but we have all of August before we need to have the draft.

BUMP! :)

Things have come up with family and school, and it's just not going to work.

Hopefully someone else can take over. :(

Thank you Yahoo for restoring whatever settings we had last year. It remembered.

I will TG all those who expressed interest with the league password.

Anyone else is urged to sign up now, so we can arrange the draft date. We hope to get to twelve teams again.

GO GO GO!
