Hmmm... who edited this?

Ah, so it's ok to put "jerk jerk jerk jerk...." in Wikipedia if you're the NYT...

What else are they editing?

This ('http://wikiscanner.virgil.gr/f.php?ip1=12.160.79.0-255&ip2=199.181.174.0-175.255&ip3=199.181.172.0-173.255&ip4=195.172.14.128-143')

Nice to see their writers finally found a venue that suits them.

Reminds me, hadn't checked my on-going wiki edit war today. Why people think they can change things without sources is beyond me.

So when I edit anonymously, it's Comcast's fault.

Gotta remember that.

Wait...you mean...SOMEone went into an open source, edited-by-users online encyclopedia and...*gasp* EDITED SOMETHING?!?

Holy Shit-Spinning Silkworms!

Next you'll be telling us that someone who works at the New York Times has no right to a personal life with regard to political views!

Is...is this heinous use of something in the way it was intended to be used something we should continue to permit?

Or is it just possible that Wikipedia has re-edited the article LIKE IT ALWAYS DOES when someone comes in and vandalizes it?

Honestly, RO, you're trawling in the dregs for this shit. This is beneath even you.

Really?

Whadd'ya know...so does Diebold, Fox, Walmart, FEMA, the Republican Party, Microsoft, the US Department of Energy... (http://blog.wired.com/27bstroke6/2007/08/vote-on-the-top.html)

Big Fucking Deal.

1285 edits for whole NYT? It's just some guys occasionally using the net at work. I rarely edit WP, and even so have over double that. If they were serious, it would be over a hundred thousand.

BTW, it's interesting how WP prides itself on independence, but how easy it is for 13 year old girls or 14 year old boys to get to admins in WP - just have lots of time, be nice to everyone, groupthink, and here you go. Easy for any geek without a job... or exactly that job.

Unprofessional if it's a reporter or editor? Absolutely. Do you know it wasn't a mailroom clerk, a messenger, a visitor...?

Probably not a visitor if they have that many edits on the scanner. Over a thousand.

I think it's more than likely a reporter or editor. It's one thing to edit Wikipedia (yes, other organizations do it). But to put "jerk jerk jerk" in there is idiocy.

Uh, it just checks IP address, which is not unique to any one person. Anyone editing from their building, hell maybe their whole block would come up with that IP range.

They own that block of IP addresses, that does not stop them from subneting them out It could be sub organizations or hell anyone they really chose to rent IP addresses to

Maybe it is a wireless user, maybe not even an employee
Maybe it is a a sub company that rents addresses from them
Maybe it is a secretary bored at her front desk
Maybe it is a HR staff member
Maybe it is a receptionist
Maybe it is a photographer

An address being owned by a company in no way can tell you WHAT in that company that person did or even if it was actually someone employed by that company

Don't let the facts get in the way of blind bias.

RODKWL why do you seem to always insist that we (the liberal majority on NSG) think that just because someone is from the NYT (or Democrat, liberal, NCAA, ACLU) that they can do no wrong when it clearly isn't the case?

For fucks sake man, we could paraphrase most of your OPs as "Jerk Jerk Jerk Muslimz r Teh E33il" and be right 90% of the time. Off the high horse please.

Who the fuck cares what some tosser in the NYT does anyway......

Okay. Who cares? It was some singular editor. Not nearly as disturbing as the CIA making article edits.

No worse that what you do. You're just on the opposite end of the American spectrum of bullshit.

Anyway, I find this ridiculous and irrelevant.

Also, am I the only one who has never edited Wikipedia?

Uh-oh from what I read they are trying to control our information on Pink Floyd. What's next, them trying to edit the way we think!!!!!
