I know we have a lot of really educated people here. I think we might be able to solve all world ignorance together (okay, really a good portion of Generalite ignorance).

So, what do you know that other people should?

welll i know how to make raised doughnuts. thats an important human skill. but im not giving that one away!

here's something i know that the "who is smart" thread reminded me of.

you need to treat everyone with respect, even the stupid people.

when you are in school and other academic settings intelligence is given too much weight as to a persons worth. this can lead you to start to discount the feelings and worth of those who are obviously of "normal" intelligence.

the same is true of those who think that making far more money that the average guy makes them worth more as a person.

when you treat other people like idiots or peons they will get you back for it. they might be stupid or poor but that wont stop them from spitting in your food when you arent looking. or cutting down your favorite tree "on accident". or telling everyone about your embarrassing sexual fetish.

I know how to make a flashpot from items found in any hardware store. I also know how to design and make a dress. I know how to organize a fancy dinner for 800 VIPs. I once raised $69,000 for a charity with one throw away idea. I have a really good recipe for steamed clams. I am pretty good at reading maps. I know how to scuba dive.

I know how to straitjacket someone too. I work as an orderly at a long term care facility, we get some pretty screwed up people. LG is outnumbered 2 to 1, I believe.

Sorry, I was sworn to secrecy not to reveal how the trick is done. Suffice it to say that the rabbit is not usually very happy about it (though no permanent damage is done) and the cleanup really sucks.

Useful?I'm not too sure about that. I know almost everything there is to know about cats. (except most the surgical stuff) I know the taxanomic names to almost all species of cat. Panthera Leo.Panthera Onca.Panthera Pardus.Acinynax Jubatus.Felis Silvestris. I won't list all 37.

I used to know every club in downtown Austin. Not so much anymore. I've been in almost every psychiatric ward in both Central Texas and Central Oklahoma. So LG will have someone else on his side.

But basically,unless you're a stray cat,I'm useless.

The secret to being a great teacher is to keep your students entertained with a wide-ranging knowledge of the bizarre and the obscure, while arranging the lecture prompts so as to let them think they came up with all the important things on their own.

:p

This depends greatly upon what you are teaching. Some subjects, such as foreign languages, do not lend themselves to the "self discovery" method. Here the secret to being a great teacher still involves having available an archive of the ridiculous and obscure, with which to amuse and entertain the students whilst transmitting the content desired for the class. :p

The point is that the harder you "try" to "teach" by cramming content down their throats, the harder it will be actually to accomplish.

I think the ideal reaction to any class is, "I'm surprised how much I learned in that class."

Of course that would mean I'd most likely cut 70% of our government, which I probably would've done anyways if I was elected President. Hehe, Amelia is sleeping on my bed right now beside me (laptop) and she's pretty happy with her life here. The only time she isn't happy is when I have to punish her for being a bad kitty, but I usually make it up with her by giving her treats and she's happy again. :)
