Cricket: Kumble hits a hundred

Any team that allows Kumble to hit a test century needs to die in shame...or eat jellybeans. :p

Kumble....of all the people...I can't believe it. And the fact that he is the only person from the visiting team to hit a century in a rare away series victory.

LOL.

Non-Cricket people please stay away from this thread. :p

While I do follow the game, I don't know Kumble. Bowler?

Bowler. Tailender. Known for his silly batting style.

Ah. Seen a few like that on the Aussie team over the years.

His first century in 118 tests. It's like McGrath hitting a century. Never supposed to happen.

ZING.

Yeah, I found the scorecard on the BBC Sport site. Most embarrassing.

Well, good show Kumble.

But without taking anything away from this achievement, I think it speaks more to the lackluster performance of England. Which pains me greatly.

Meh. I still want the head of the groundsman who made such a flat, docile track when England have a bowling track that profits from Old Trafford-esque bounce.

But jesus christ! We should have won at Lords, and now this? Scary stuff indeed.

Good for his batting average indeed, especially the one against England.

England doing well 4/197, chasing a small score of 664.

England is 305 / 8. India should win....but then Indians are known to make a draw out of what many teams would certainly win.

So it seems that England is still in the fine form that they were last time they were out here in Australia.

:p

Remember that Jason Gillespie (who used to bat at no. 9 for Australia) scored 201* against Bangladesh a couple of years ago as a nightwatchman. Not that England is as bad as Bangladesh... yet.

In the first test of that series, it took a Gilchrist hundred to avoid the follow on and then a Ponting hundred (and a dropped catch) to get aussie over the line by 2 wickets.

But that is what makes Australia so good. You make a mistake, Australia punishes you.

England's performance has been below par, there is no doubt about it. But I do have to say to all those above foretelling doom and the demise of English cricket not to forget that the team went into this series without their entire first choice bowling attack, with the exception of Panesar. I think the three seam bowlers had something like 20 caps between them, with about 15 of those belonging to Anderson.

They still shouldn't have been defeated in the series in quite this manner, but it is worth baring in mind.

Why the hell didn't Dravid enforce the follow on? It's overcast, you're leading by 350-odd runs, what are you expecting to happen? Even if England managed to get past 400 thats still less than 100 in the 4th innings. I know he's probably banking on Kumble on that 5th day pitch, but he needs some killer instinct here.

Knowing how England play, the second innings should be a shocker normally. That's unless the Indians don't like fielding all day, so no follow-on.

Stupid Dravid and Stupider Indian batting.

Score was 11 / 3 at one point....thanks to Ganguly it is 69 / 3 now.
