The movie proves it certainly. People were afraid it would suck but I can tell you... it was great. :)

Well I'm glad I missed their whining. What they found to complain about is beyond me. If you are a Simpsons fan you should have no issues with the movie (though I would have liked to know what happened to the pig) and if you aren't a fan then I don't know why one would see it to begin with.

I loved it. I was worried it would be sub-par...but damn, I was wrong. And I couldn't be happier about being wrong on this one. :)

The last time I remember seeing the pig is when the Simpsons are trying to climb over to Flanders house, and the pig pushes the plank away from the window sill

I was wondering that, too.

Precisely and then the house burned down and then that was the last you see of Spiderpig/Harry Plopper. I guess the writers didn't mind leaving that part unanswered.

Devil Suit Homer

I also loved the scene where he flips off the crowd as he's being sucked into the sinkhole. I really wish, however, someone would have said shit. And made it really long, too...

One can't have everything though the "there's something funny about that Sop sign" line was just awesome. :D

I honestly have no respect for anyone who has seen episodes from seasons 2-9 and actually think the movie was good. There was not a single joke in the entire movie that would have even been considered for inclusion in an episode during the golden era.

While this thread's still up, what is "irreverant humour," anyway?

That's what made the Simpsons so great!

I actually laughed in the film. While I really enjoyed many episodes in the show (the Navy, bodyguard, and sanitation commisoner episodes being only a few) this rarely occured. I suppose the setting could have helped some but the film was just so damn FUNNY. I'm just sorry that the moive length didn't give enough air time for all the characters of Springfield.

They had some context, though.
I think that's where people's latest criticism of Family Guy has some traction, imnsho.

One of my favorite Simpsons jokes is where Homer writes on his hand:

Lenny: white
Carl: black

unless I've illusionated it... I don't remember where it's from.

"I call the big one Bitey." was a great line.

I also loved the part where the Simpsons are in Alaska and Homer and Marge are trapped in the lodge and the animals help take their clothes off... and stare in horror at the consequences. Great stuff.

I also loved the part where they expose Bart's penis... because I never thought they'd do that. Then Flanders' reaction was great also.

Both great parts of the film, the animals reaction when Homer and Marge get down to it is classic.

And the quote you provided is actually one i remember! The monorail episode, and i believe there were possoms living in the closet of the, uh, "cockpit" of the train.

"And don't forget to thank the Lord for this bountiful... PENIS!!!"

"FINALLY! The government found somebody we were looking for!"

great lines.
