Catholic Priest Streaks At High School

A Catholic priest faces an indecent exposure charge after police said he went jogging in the nude about an hour before sunrise.

The Rev. Robert Whipkey told officers he had been running naked at a high school track and didn't think anyone would be around at that time of day, a police report said.

The bizarreness aside, at second glance it doesn't look quite as kinky (it was before sunrise). But what caught my eye was at the end of the article:

If convicted of indecent exposure, a misdemeanor, he would have to register as a sex offender, prosecutors said.

I was scratching my head a little when I read this. Is it Colorado law that anyone who goes around naked is automatically put on the same level as rapists and child molesters? Or is it just if you do it at a school? Doesn't seem quite right to me, I guess. Discuss.

Yeah, I don't think the guy should be considered a sex offender, I mean, he's just a nudist.

most of the sex offender list laws are fucking stupid like that in one way or a dozen. i'd guess its because the ultra-prudes are the ones writing them up and nobody wants to be the guy that votes on the side of child molesters. on some of them you can get on the list for life for being convicted of mutual statutory rape.

I wish more priests had that sense of humor.
It might make the religious community realize that a naked body =/= a sin.

What, nudists are pedophiles? All of them? Wow... I never knew I wanted to rape small children. Thanks for telling me.

It's probably because of some statement in the law that says that if you are nailed for indecent exposure within X feet of school grounds, you must be placed on the sex offender list.....

....whether or not kids would reasonably be construed as present in the pre-dawn hours.

Maybe we could arrange a naked run past the courthouse to show our support. :)

The thing is, though - if there's nobody around to be exposed to, how can it be indecent exposure?

He'd have to register as a sex offender? What the bloody fuck?!

That's just ridiculous. Believe me, I never would approve that sort of thing in Colorado.

...

Oh wait, this is located IN Colorado! DAMN IT!

Naturally. All states are like this. Nudism I believe, is officially considered a sexual thing. Meh, go figure.
