What's the best concert you've been to?
Have a little break from all the nagging and bickering over politics and all that crap. The title basically says it all. I have only went to a handful, and I'd say that my trip to go see Styx and Def Leppard on the 4th of July was the best one i went to. I am going to see REO SpeedWagon in sept, and i think that one might take the top spot on my list

Lollapalooza 1992
consisted of Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Ministry, Lush, Jesus and Mary Chain, Ice Cube and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Lollapalooza II kicked off on July 18th, 1992. That was one of the best concerts I had ever been to.
Also want to add that Dio and Yngwie Malmsteen touring together in '85 was a great one.

I've also seen Ozzy a few times and he's fantastic too.

I went to Electric Gardens on the weekend. The Rakes, The Macabees, Young Knives, Noisettes, Happy Mondays. It was a damn great festival and I got to the front of the crowd for every major act. That made me happy.

You're going to the wrong gigs then :P Alice Cooper was excellent. When the MEN is full the atmospheres great. It's only when a band plays that can't fill the arena that it's not so good.
Then again, in my opinion, he could play a gig in a shoebox and I'd still love it :D

In all honesty, I don';t think they'll be coming back to vancouver any time soon. They shoved them in a tiny tiny club and the turn out wasn't much more than 100 people. Still, they are awesome live, and I had a great time.

Flogging Molly at the Colchester Arts Centre. It was fucking mayhem when they played "Drunken Lullabies", in a small venue, with the bouncers trying to control the crowd.:)
Taking Back Sunday whenever I've seen them. Not only does the music rule, but Adam Lazarra is the most charismatic, engaging and enervating frontman I've ever seen.

Klaxons = Nu Rave bellends. Not that I dislike their music, I simply can't deal with a crowd of mulitcoloured nobs in "Save the Rave" T-shirts. As for Smashing Pumpkins, I've never really listened to them; bloody hell I can't wait for the Used though.

Made yet worse by the fact that they covered a proper rave track in Not Over Yet.
On the other hand, I do quite like their music, even if it is a bit pretentious, and not at all what it claims to be.

If the Pumpkins played even one song off Mellon Collie or Siamese Dream then standing there for an hour and a half would be worth it. The Klaxons? They'll be forgotten in a year, two at most. The Pumpkins are infinitely more worthwhile.

Nine Inch Nails at Madison Square Garden on the Downward Spiral tour. Openers Jim Rose Circus (Cool!) and Marilyn Manson (Unfortunate). What can I say... I was pretty angst-ridden back then.
Lately I have enjoyed several Wilco shows, any one of which could be my *favorite* show, but not necessarily the *best* concert I've seen.

However, much as I want to hate Lily Allen, I can't bring myself to do so. She's actually rather amusing as a persona, seems to have some sort of depth of character, and her music isn't quite as irritating as Kate "foundations" Nash.

The first concert I "went to" was in high school. They decided to bring all the students to the auditorium and brought out a band that';s decisively B-rated. As far as I know, the band was seeking to emulate DOTT's Green Tentacle's thoughts -- "Volume is everything". So we had a band with crappy songs that played so loudly I was half-deaf afterwards, and the girl next to me was whoistling in a high pitch at the top of her lungs.
Needless to say, that's the only concert I've ever been to.

God yes. That Panic! bastard is going down.
Top for me was a Warren Zevon show I saw a few years before he died. He was playing in a small club in Birmingham, Alabama. There were massive thunderstorms and tornadoes in the area, so only about 50 people showed up for the show. Zevon came out on stage and started taking requests. He'd play a song, then someone would call out another. He even played a couple of songs over again for people who showed up late.
Also saw REM back in 1985 in a club with about 200 people there - great show. Next time I saw them was 5 years later with 18,000 people. Wasn't nearly as good...
