"Scumbag" t-shirts popular with troops in Iraq

While, back home, this may have a desired effect on local drug dealers and reinforcing a sense of self back into the community at large, d'ya think the slogan "Not in My Town, Scumbag" would have a positive effect in Iraq for the locals?

Bear in mind that those wearing it, are part of what many see as a military occupation force. Because saying to them locals that they're in your town, doesn't scream "occupier".

Authorities in Upper Darby are making it known that they are fed up with crime through a message on custom made t-shirts that read: 'Not In My Town Scumbag'.

Upper Darby Police Superintendent Michael Chitwood came up with the idea for the shirts, but he never expected that soldiers fighting in Iraq would be donning the t-shirts.

“It was basically to tell the drug dealers and those people who destroy the quality of life in our community that they weren’t welcome here and that we were going to lock them up and throw the keys away. They took off, they exploded,” said Chitwood.

A township councilwoman sent a shirt to 25-year-old Army National Guard specialist Valerie O’Donnel, who has been serving in Iraq for the past year.

“Next thing you know we were sending over, through her mother, an entire platoon,” said Chitwood.

32 of the t-shirts were sent over for the 25 men and 7 women in O’Donnel’s unit.

Chitwood is thrilled to share his tough slogan with our soldiers and he thinks the t-shirts hold a universal message.

“I think the message is the same whether you’re a scumbag terrorist in Iraq or a dope dealing scumbag in Upper Darby Township,” said Chitwood.

You can see the t shirt if you click the link.

And English would be the second language of the Iraqi middle class (those that are still around) and it's not beyond comprehension that ordinary Iraqi could understand the gist of it. It's not Ulysses.

More importantly, having those troops walk around in gear that proclaims the town to be theirs can't be a good psychological move I would have thought - engrained sense of ownership and dominance?

Silly troops, they're meant to be liberating the Iraqis, not conquering them.

*gets whispered to*

They are just conquering them, you say? Oh, nevermind then.

The Iraqis should be wearing those shirts in front of the USA soldiers. It's the Iraqis' towns, and the troops are scumbags, so that would be much more fitting.

Most Iraqis I've met on the street can't read any English at all.

We had to put up signs in Arabic telling people to not approach vehicles in convoy - that's not Ulysses either. Along the lines of "if you approach closer than 50 meters you will be shot".

They understood the Arabic.

Most of the Iraqis you've "met on the street" are imaginary... or do you still think people buy your little made-up stories and biographies that keep changing?

I'm sorry you feel that way. I have a lot of video from Iraq and Afghanistan - with me in the videos.

I could not possibly agree with this more.

Is there someway you could show us this video on Youtube or another site?

I'm not in disbelief that you served in Iraq, i'd just like to see some footage.

I could email it to you. If I linked it to this site, I'm sure the mods would find it to be a violation of the Terms of Service, especially the parts where people are being blown apart.

Sure you do, like those porn shots of your wife a bisexual, swinger, fundamentalist Christian such as yourself with lawyer credentials claimed to send to strangers on-line. Are your gay children also in these videos? Or is it just Christian if these illustrious videos show carnage?

While we're at proving things, prove you're a doctor. I'll need a direct message from the authorities in Sweden that you are actually licensed and educated as a medical doctor.

I've never claimed I'm a doctor. I am a last-year medical student. Nevertheless, I would never prove this to you because that would reveal my personal details. The thing is, though, my "story" hasn't changed, unlike yours where novel inventions just keep popping up all the time ("Christian adulterous pornographer, bisexual (claiming to know about gay sex, while in fact just proving you know nothing about it with ridiculous claims that haemorrhoids somehow preclude you from it), married, gay children, lawyer, soldier, veteran" and so and so forth; the details being changed or abandoned through each iteration of your account, which you've admitted is controlled by a group) I have not claimed to be anything else during my stay in these fora, nor have I kept inventing one thing after another, and never have I used my "credentials" as being of any weight to any sort of argument that I've tried to make. In fact, I have often stated the contrary. Compare and contrast with you.
