How many tabs do you have open? Right now?

This is a pretty idle thought, really.
My computer has been up for about six days, my browser for probably two-and-a-half. I have a bunch of sites open in tabs* ... most of them I have read, but I'm keeping them open to read them again, or refer to them, or so I can link to them.
Eight of my tabs have pages from NSG. But there's 25 other pages, of which I've read about half. That's 33 tabs (open pages) in total.
So what I'm wondering is ... is that normal? Am I a webpage packrat, who just can't let go of pages I have found but can't be bothered reading?
*A TAB is a feature of a browser which allows you to switch between several sites which you are keeping open (ie, they don't need to be reloaded or "back"ed to in order to view them.) If there are little boxes above the NSG page, and NSG is in the one which is selected, and by clicking on one of the little boxes you will make the browser display that page instead of NSG, but without waiting for it to load ... you have "tabbed browsing." Invented by Opera I believe.

(Please wait while I get the poll up)
At any given time, I'm likely to have three or four open tabs on my computer. One will be my work email, one will be NS or another discussion forum I frequent, one will be a blog I'm reading, and one will be something random I'm looking up (right now it's instructions on how to soft-boil an egg).
And that will be what's open while I'm doing something else.
If I'm actually having Internet Time, there will be as many as 10 windows running at once.

Two I guess. This and Generalite Mafia. But I think I'm using two different windows rather than tabs...when I'm at home I usually have more like four or five.

Four at the moment, which is usual. NS, another forum, ebay and my email.
Three. I tend to close them prematurely, so I have FF set to undo 50 tab closes.

Well, you can vote however you like. I just thought it was more correct, like a Neilson poll or the Census, to measure "right now." The people who usually have a half-dozen but have just started their pooter up will be offset by people who aren't using their own computer and have to leave other people's stuff open.

Likewise, vote however you like. I'd say "two windows because this browser sucks" is #3, since #'s 1 & 2 don't apply.

nine at the moment... 3 are game related, one is dabs.com, one is wikipedia, one is jolt, one is one of my work websites, and another is another work thing.
i do hoarde websites to read later though, usually with FF and stumbleupon... i have probably 500 or so bookmarks of sites to "look at again later" :headbang:

I think this one does have tabs, but I'm used to using windows at home, since the one I use at home doesn't have tabs, so I haven't really tried using them much. And I voted for #3.

Bookmarks (or Favourites for you of the mainstream persuasion) are a whole threadsworth. If it doesn't break the Terms of Service, users posting up their bookmarks would really be excellent. Then we would all have "more than we can keep up with" X "number of posters to thread" to go fishing in. ;)
Oh, and :headbang:
Generally two to four. BBC, NSG, Pandora, and the last tab will be something semi-random or something I'm looking up or reading. I read a lot of wikipedia at work.

Tabs (arranged on the top as you mention) make my PC forget its 2 gigs of RAM and crash. Therefore I just open seperate sessions as ever. And yes, I use Explorer.
(I've two open at the moment).

I use firefox, and I have never seen the point of tabs. They just take up space when the taskbar is already a perfectly good way of navigating between different pages at once. Open in new window ftw.

Probably not; I generally close applications/folders/pages when I'm no longer using them. I can't stand an overly cluttered taskbar, it makes me feel almost claustrophobic.

I solve that problem with two screens at work, and then I have a laptop next to my desktop. At work, I do all my web browsing on the laptop - email and work related crud on the desktop and even a few Terminal Server sessions.

But you can only do that so much before all your taskbars overloaded.

Thirteen. They tend to accumulate over a few weeks until I forget to close a pop-up and Firefox helpfully fails to remember the twenty-odd tabs I had open in the main window, preferring to just recall the popup.

Right now, Fourteen, plus one seperate window. I also have open my music player, a digital street directory, and a PDF with computer parts prices on the lower taskbar.
Tabs are useful. FF's implementation of tabs is much better, IMHO than Explorer's.

Open in new brain ftw, I say. I do almost no work while I have NSG open, it's time I got an apprentice for the dumb stuff ...

Tease! We all know there is no other forum ...

Uh? How do I turn that feature on ? I've used Debian Etch and I've never noticed anything ... er ... rapable about the task bar ?

(No. Nobel Hobos, get your mind out of the taskbar. It is beneath you.)

At the moment I have just 4 tabs opened; but when I'm reading webcomics I regularly have ~80 or ~150 open (depending on whether I open the larger of my webcomic-folders in one go or in two)

Oh, if anyone wants to know what tabs I have open... (well, I closed a couple since my earlier post, but still...)

Also, new windows aren't fun, they take up room on my already crowded bar dealy at the bottom and make me sad I have things that would otherwise open in new windows set to open in new tabs.
