A Lesson

Anti-Social Darwinism

My daughter learned an important lesson today. Never leave your window open when you know there's going to be an afternoon thunderstorm and your computer is by the window. She was fortunate, the only real damage was to her keyboard and mouse, which will have to be replaced. The tower and monitor seem (so far) to be unaffected. This is a good thing, since we just paid $260 to the "Geek Squad" to eliminate several Trojans and viruses from said tower, and paid $40 to have an anti-virus installed (why she didn't have one in the first place, I don't know).

So, the moral of this story is:

1. Close your window if it even looks like it might be thinking about contemplating rain.

2. Get an anti-virus.

Seems so simple doesn't it.

Bah, windows. Merely portals for various forms of insect related evil.

Wow, for that amount of money I could probably have flown over and fixed the virus/trojan problem for you..
Oh well, gotta keep the economy running; never a wasted buck.

Heh I could make a clever pun about Microsoft, windows and bugs, but I'm just too lazy to trash it out properly.

$40 for anti-virus?! But ClamAV is gratis and libre!

That said, I haven't used anti-virus in about a year or so.
