Love or money?

I've been lucky to have a good job and a comfortable life. However, I realised the other day that even with that I'm missing something. I haven't been in love in over a year. I miss having that person you would die for and lets you really live instead of just being alive. I'm going to have to get married soon or rethink my faith.
Now this isn't spam, or a blog. I want to know whether you would rather have lots of money and economic success or be in love with "the one". answer now, if you like.

If you are asking which is more important I would have to go with love. Money is a material object and love transcends materialism in many ways.

As for the OP; can I specify "the one" to be a millionaire :p
I suppose I don't really believe in "the one", realistically speaking. So I should take the money. On the other hand if the premise is that "the one" does really exist, then it's more complicated.. (There seems to be a small measure of inevitability tied in with the concept of "the one"; if you're meant to be together then it should happen regardless of whether you take the money or not.)

No seriously, money can bring happiness if you're smart enough. In other words you can have both if you remain yourself and keep your money separate. I know this, cause it is reality for me.....
Choosing love over money is an example of a chick flick I saw with my girl last week.

As much as I hate to agree with you on anything, you have a point. With enough money, I'm sure you could fool yourself into thinking whatever bimbo you happen to be with at the moment loves you.

Didn't say you were asking for sympathy.
Just saying it's nothing to get that upset over, or even concerned about. Certainly nothing that merits rethinking your faith.

This is like asking me to choose between killing my mom or dad. Money and love are like the two main things I live for. Literally. I can't have one without the other. :p
Unfortunately I don't have much of the green, but lots of the lovin', so I guess lovin' because it's such a good thing to have when you're sad because of the lack of green. Ha! There we go.

No. Although you obsess over your true love constantly, she nevertheless fails to realize your love for her even exists. You lose you job because you continue to float in your fantasy world, with her. Without your job, you cannot pay off your morgage, and turn to cheap motels, and, eventually, the street. Years later, you have lost all the remnants of the life you once led, wandering the alleyways as you pine for the love you will never know.

Love? Been there, done that. Love doesn't pay the bills, pay the rent or put food on the table. I'll take money. Love only works if you're warm, dry, well-fed and have a roof over your head.

It's like the wedding I was at last week. When I entered the hotel a young lady asked if I wanted turkey and ham or beef for my meal. I quickly said beef as an honest answer but when they were sevring the food I wanted the turkey and ham. I couldn't enjoy my beef to its full greatness as the want for the forbidden turkey and ham was overwhelming.
Love or money = Beef or turkey and ham.
I'm not looking for symphty either.
knowledge.
An angel appeared at a university faculty meeting and told the dean that in return for his exemplary behavoir, he would be rewarded with his choice of wisdom, beauty or ten million dollars. Without hesitating, the dean selected wisdom. "Done," the angel said, then disappeared. The other faculty members looked at the dean, who appeared changed but remained silent, staring at the table. One colleague leans over to him and says, "Say something wise."
The dean mutters, "I should have taken the money."
Depends who the love is with and whether it's returned. I'm leaning towards the dough at the moment, if it's a significant amount and there are no other details on the love.

Loneliness is NOT a reason to get married. Love the person first -- don't go looking for marriage because you're lonely. That way lies disaster.

Well, we weren't in love (first of all) and since I'm moving away in September and we won't be in the same province between now and then (he's on a trip that he doesn't get back from until I've left for my trip and then as soon as I get back from my trip I move) we've called it quits.

I'm pretty damn poor right now. But if someone said "You can have 10 million bucks and never be in love or be loved again, or you can have an intense love affair lasting 'til the day you die but always be poor" I know I'd choose the love affair. I've had a decent amount of money before, and I've been in love before. I know which one made me happier.

Are you sure that the "over my dead body" comment wasn't more about his adult friend possibly dating his teenage daughter than his adult friend's religion?

Love. Even a cynical, materialistic bastard such as myself can appreciate that money is a subjective notion with little relevance beyond that which society places upon it. Love, by contrast, is a universal emotion found in every society of every epoch, which transcends material necessities.
