RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - If someone offers you frilly women's lingerie on the street, call police. Thieves have stolen almost $35,000 worth of underwear, perfume and other merchandise from Victoria's Secret stores in the Raleigh area since March, police said. Law enforcement officials have no suspects and said it's unlikely the thieves are stealing for personal use.

A store in the Triangle Town Center in Raleigh reported nearly $20,000 in missing merchandise between March and June, while stores in Durham and Cary reported losses of almost $13,000 and $4,000, respectively.

The thieves seem to work in groups of three, with one person distracting a store clerk while the other two stuff bags with bras, underwear and other items, police said.

Victoria's Secret is owned by Columbus-based Limited Brands Inc.

Hmm, I wonder if this would qualify as the strangest thing ever stolen, what do you guys think?

Well, stranger things have happened, but not many.
I bet they could make a killing offering the underware at a lower price then Secret.
Or they're just all gay.
Maybe.

I don't think it does qualify:

Pool contractor Ed Keil says three of his life-sized cows were stolen from outside his business around the Fourth of July. One of the cows was returned a few days later, and the other came home yesterday. But his plastic calf is still missing.

It's that they were returned that strikes me as odd - it's as though the aliens mistook the plastic cows for live cows and had them sent back, though the calf requires a bit more study.

Of course, the aliens also need to provide water to the plastic cows, and hence...

Someone stole 1000 gallons of water from Daisy Valdivia's backyard. The strangest part? Apparently, they didn't spill a drop. She woke Wednesday morning to find that the inflatable pool, hip high and 10 feet in diameter and filled with water, had vanished

$35,000 worth of lingerie and perfume? How the hell don't you notice that?

And, for that matter, who would want to by stolen underwear out of a gym bag?

they steal them then sell them on ebay

For some reason, I don't think I would buy any clothing off of Ebay for any reason.

I heard of a burglary at a car workshop a few years back. They took all the MOT Failure Certificates.

[Note to non-UK residents: an MOT Failure Certificate would be issued to someone whose car is not roadworthy. You would have to be really dumb to buy one.]

They probably run a fake shop and just give MOTs to everyone who goes there.

More likely, they don't want the shop giving them a failure certificate.

Yes, they probably do. That doesn't alter the fact that MOT failure slips are no use to them.

Umm...I just said how those could be of use to them.
