Gah I knew I forgot one! congrats on finishing middle school!!! Have a blast in high school, and fair warning this will be some of the fastest 4 years of your life, enjoy every minute of it, and makes sure you get good grades all 4 years, dont be lazy and slack the first to then spend the last two kicking yourself for messing up your gpa. and good luck with the date:)
Which uni?
Aberdeen.

TBC is going to University in York; if that goes tits up, and I improbably do not get AAB at A-level, I'll be going to St.Andrews instead.

i'm currently working at a function centre and applying for real jobs. i don't seem to have the experience necessary to be a field archaeologist so i have to find some other job and gain experience through volunteering and the like.

My friend studied archeology. She once told me that the best way to distinguish the field diggers from the armchair theorists at conferences was to sit at the bar. The ones who put away the most booze in the shortest time span are the field workers. She also said that the burnout rate for those who actually work in the field is just mind bogglingly huge.

yeh the pay is woefully inadequate, but the worst is the level of job security. basically there isn't any. the work is where the digs are, and if there's no digs there's no work. the only way to keep at it full time is to have no fixed abode and just live out of a tent or van for a couple of years. i think that's what people get tired of more than anything else. then there's also the fact that there's way more people wanting to do the work than there are positions so it is very competitive. without becoming a supervisor and then manager there's no great long term prospect in field archaeology, and then managers don't do much digging anyway.

I never said it was in the bag. It probably isn't. Yeah, I guess. The thing with me, is that when I try to grow socially, I end up screwing up academically.

I've just graduated from uni with a BA(Hons). Taking a year out before (possibly) doing a Masters. This next year I'm doing sound for a local theatre and a little of the typical travelling, which kicks off with South Africa in October.

I graduated high school this year and in September I'm going to Memorial University of Newfoundland (MUN) in St. John's. I'm not referring to the Marine Institute but I'm referring to the main campus; both are considered part of MUN and both are in St. John's yet for some reason the main campus is called the "St. John's campus"...
Not sure what I want to major in yet, I was thinking I'd probably want to do either a science degree or a business degree, and for the first semester I'm leaning towards science, but I'm not even sure what within science I would want to major in...
Heh, according to the orientation pamphlet they have a debating society. I guess forums like this one and others might've been good practice for it...
I'm graduating this year, and I plan to study medicine next year. (I hope) this is set as my GLORIOUS DESTINY, but I'm wasting time on NSG, crossing my fingers and hoping for the best. Ah well, we'll see what happens. I still don't really understand how most people can say what they're going to end up doing the next year without actually knowing their final results...
DO NOT READ THIS
Yes, yes, I know you know I'm only 15, or you will because I plan to create a thread about it and be flamed to a crisp being told to get a blog. No, I'm not lying on the interwebs, as if I would do that. *nods*

Bah. Curse you for unwhiting my text. One doesn't like to blow one's own trumpet.
I'm setting up someone here to say "You might at least have told us you had a trumpet", come on, people...
Yes, apparently you can. The representative from the university has told us it doesn't matter, and in the interview they give they know none of your personal details. I'd be an adult before I was allowed to touch a patient, after all. If not, I'll just take a holiday for two years. :)
How is the course set out there if you would be an adult when you get to a patient?
Undergraduate is 5-6 years, and IIRC the first three years is mostly theory.

I graduated high school, and I have no firm plans for next year. I suppose I'll have to finally apply for all those colleges people have told me I should apply for, at some point, so I can go to one of them, but no rush. Current mood says I'm going to live next year in Maine taking care of my grandmother and finding some kind of job to occupy my time.
