Spam. Who has eaten it, and was it any good. I've also heard that 15% of it is fur. Can anyone confirm this? It looks horrible and somewhat resembles the Swedish Kalvsylta (shown below.) which is outright horrible.

It's actually cheese with smelting salts and bacon. And yes, it's horrible, but no way near the Kalvsylta or Sourherring, a particularly nasty form of fish, seasoned over a few years in lactic acid.

Spam isn't remotely as bad as people like to think it is. I've eaten plenty of worse things than Spam.
It tastes decent enough in a sandwich.

I followed one of their recipes they have on the label once. it was a SPAM burger and it was nasty, fried SPAM acquires a sharp salty taste that is just shocking. i've also had SPAM chilli too, that was pretty rotten. i actually don't mind it cold though.
i'm a big fan of unusual food and local delicasies and whathaveyou, but i've yet to try jellied eel, that sounds pretty bad.

you have to find the right combo of spices that accentuates the saltiness of spam.
a bit of shoyu and sugar added to the spam while frying it softens the saltiness while adding a psudo teriyaki flavor to it.

At least lutfisk has something in it to preserve the meat.
Quite unlike stinkheads
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stinkheads
Stinkheads (tepa), fermented salmon heads, are a traditional food of the Inuit in southwest Alaska. A customary way of preparing them was to place salmon heads and salmon guts in a wooden barrel, cover it with burlap, and bury it in the ground for about a week.
No, I haven't eaten them, and I wouldn't, unless I was starving.

Oh, sorry. It's pork, and it is the part of the leg between the knee and the ankle. This (http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bild:Schwein-Eisbein.png)shows you all nicely in a picture where it hails from.
The word-for-word translation from the German expression is "ice leg", for reasons unbeknownst to me*.
*Well, actually, now I looked it up and it says it comes from the fact that these bones were in the earlier days taken and made into parts of ice-skates, so there. Loads of things you never wanted to know about Eisbein.

I used to eat it as a kid, especially with cheese and mayo. My eating habits are pretty plain. However, it got to the point where it tasted too salty. I hate salt and cannot eat a lot of it without my blood pressure rising. I would recommend pineapple slices if you plan on cooking it. That was my favorite preparation of it. ^^'

yes, as the name suggests, it is very stinky. As the above photo suggests, it looks mightily like puke. And I can attest that it does indeed bear a more-than-passing resemblance to puke in ordour (or should that be ordure), texture and taste.
