Haha. Genius. Heard it on the radio this morning.

THE call letters KUNT have landed at a yet-unbuilt low-power digital television station in Wailuku, Maui.

Alarmingly similar to a word the dictionary says is obscene, the call letters were among a 15-page list of new call letters issued by the Federal Communications Commission and released this week.

Well, maybe it's not an accurate spelling of the possibly offensive word, so the FCC thought it was OK...

They also don't check for call letters that are backwards...

KCUF-FM near Aspen, Colo. got its F-word-in-reverse call letters in August of 2005 and has been on the air since December, "Keeping Colorado Uniquely Free," its Web site says.

I'm sure George Carlin would be pleased to know that the people at the FCC are hard at work, confining themselves to a very narrow interpretation of obscene words...

Do any of the radio or TV stations in your area have questionable call letters?

when the FCC made the restriction that call letters East of the Mississippi had to have K at the beginning and W to the west, they were just asking for limitations and trouble. *nod*

Well, considering FCUK is quite a popular brand of clothing and other things, it doesn't seem too bad.

Ha. Reminds me of my protest to the Patriot Act. When using the phone, I'd yell political statements at the FBI guy wiretapping me.

Hey, there was nothing else to do.

I'm fairly certain that, considering his routine, Carlin is against the FCC.

In the SF Bay Area there is (was?) a station called KOME, they had a promo that used to say, "Don't touch that dial, it's got KOME on it..." Since then they had to refer to themselves as K-O-M-E...
