Zombie Threads

I've noted zombie threads in this forum - zombies because they died ages ago and should have been decently laid to rest, yet they're still going and they eat your brains.

For Zombie thread number 1 - I nominate FaG's Dissent is not Patriotic, It's Treasonous.

Any more nominations?

NS Pub.

Not that I mind. It's kinda fun, actually. :p

You have to remove the head or destroy the brain.

What about that "Dutch only" topic?

You're probably right, there. That one must have more posts to it than any other thread, in any forum. :p

Dissent, as disgusting and ignorant as it is, was started a mere week ago and has been continuously posted in. As such, it is not a zombie thread.

The Dutch thread and the NS Pub have been posted to every few days.

Zombie threads are ones that die, then rear their ugly heads a year or more later when some newb decides to dig them up.

Don't they usually just get locked right away when that happens, though?

I'd call a zombie thread one that sinks to page 5 or 6 a bunch of times and is brought back again and again.

Okay then, which one is it? :p I thought the Dutch thread had something like six thousand posts, though I haven't seen it in a while.

I think your confusion stems from the variances in different species of zombies. You see, some of them are one-year's-dead or more, while others are freshly-dead. There's even the possibility, as we've seen evidenced in 28 Days Later and the new Dawn of the Dead, of zombification taking place with zero or almost no down-time, as it were. As such, the zombie identification process is more complicated than it used to be, and this general confusion is spilling out onto other zombie-related zombieology, like thread zombies.

I've participated in one 95,000 personally, others go further I'm sure.

Gravedigging: Posting a reply on a long disused thread; bumping threads that aren't used anymore. Adding legitimate new material is permitted, and the acceptable age varies from forum to forum. Adding a book report in Jennifer Government is acceptable after months of inactivity, but bumping a week-old topic in General may not be.

And give me shamblers anytime, Greater Trostia -- those newfangled fast zombies are creepy.

Can I add that also when it's dug up, it's dug up with little or no attempt to add intelligent content to the thread.

I've seen some zombie threads that acutally were successfully revived becaue those that added to it actually added to the topic.

Ooh, what about that one that was appropriately revived but the topic was spam anyways so it was still locked? Head-spinny.

Really? They're terrifying, yes - but I find the shamblers much more creepy. I mean, being a fast zombie would be pretty cool - you'd be stronger. Faster. Better. The Million Dollar Man. Whereas being a shambler - a pathetic but vaguely dangerous, aimless beast, lurching around helplessly for all eternity - that's horror! Not to mention the horrible prospect of iminent doom - they're individually weak, but they're unstoppable all the same, like cancer. Worse, to be torn apart by things that aren't even as kick-ass as you!

Yeah the shamblers rock.
