FOND DU LAC, Wis. -- A World War II-era plane made an emergency landing Sunday night on U.S. Highway 41 near the Fond du Lac County airport.
The pilot of the 1946 North American T-6G plane was forced to land just before 8 p.m.
The Wisconsin State Patrol said the pilot was flying with his son to the EAA AirVenture in Oshkosh when engine problems forced them to land right on the highway.
A state trooper's emergency vehicle caught the incident on its dash camera.
Traffic in both directions was forced to stop.
The pilot, William Leff and his son were OK but the plane suffered damage after it hit several highway signs.
Leff has an aviation business in Dayton, Ohio.
Gregg Dorff, of Brookfield, Wis., and his family were traveling through the area and saw the plane on the highway. Dorff said he noticed a large dent on the right wing of the plane.
