Just a little while ago I suddenly felt really cold. I grabbed a blanket and asked my brother to get me the thermometer, and it said 95.4 degrees Fahrenheit (about 35.2 degrees Celsius, I think). Now that I've had a blanket on for a while I've been getting warmer and I'm up to 97.7 degrees Fahrenheit (36.5 degrees Celsius).

So why, in the middle of summer in Florida, did I suddenly get so cold? My Dad does have the air conditioning set for 73 degrees Fahrenheit (about 22.8 degrees Celsius?), but would that be enough to make my body temperature drop that much?

Have you ever felt really cold all of a sudden for no reason that you could think of at the moment, or anything like that? Am I sick or something, or am I just worrying too much?

If you're overly skinny, it's easier to be cold. But it might have been a draft or something.

I'm kind of skinny, so I do tend to get colder more easily, but I don't know if I should get that cold.

Could be you're sick with the flu...I remember alternating between fiery hot and icy cold during such weather when I had the flu.

Do you have other symptoms of the flu, like a headache, muscle aches, and the like? (Also, drink plenty of water. You should be doing that anyway given the heat, but do so even more now.)

You're turning into an ice woman.

Sorry to go scientific, but the surface temperature of your skin being warm makes the surrounding environment seem colder, and your skin being colder makes it seem warmer. Assuming she starts from the center of her body, you would be correct, but if she starts from the outside, she is becoming the human torch. (yeah, I over-analyze these things)

I agree with Kyronea's flu idea, but if you are getting hungry at about the same time, that happens to me sometimes just randomly. When I eat, it stops. If you are really worried, go see a doctor.

But that's what the air conditioner is set to, not my body temperature. Could the difference between the temperature outside and inside be affecting me, maybe? I don't know. It's actually only like 85 degrees outside today, which is cooler than it was last week, I think.

I meant that 73 degrees is cold for an air conditioner.

I think that when your body temperature drops below the outside temperature you start to feel really warm, even though your body is actually dangerously cold. Something like that, anyway.

Link (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypothermia)

In stage 1, body temperature drops by 1-2°C below normal temperature (1.8-3.6°F). Mild to strong shivering occurs. The victim is unable to perform complex tasks with the hands; the hands become numb. Blood vessels in the outer extremities contract, lessening heat loss to the outside air. Breathing becomes quick and shallow. Goose bumps form, raising body hair on end in an attempt to create an insulating layer of air around the body (limited use in humans due to lack of sufficient hair, but useful in other species). Often, a person will experience a warm sensation, as if they have recovered, but they are in fact heading into Stage 2.

20% to 50% of hypothermal deaths are associated with, or even caused by, a phenomenon known as paradoxical undressing. When this occurs, the hypothermic victim becomes seriously confused and starts discarding clothing they have been wearing
