I'm surprised there hasn't been a thread on this.

So would you vote for him?

I would, something hilarious would surely ensue and I wouldn't want to miss that :p

btw is Boris Johnson known outside of the UK?

Is Boris Johnson known outside of the UK?
Sadly, no.

Much like The Smiths, most people don't really 'get' Boris outside of the UK lol.

Oh and despite the fact that everything he's ever been involved in has led to mass hilarity, I wouldn't vote for him, no. He's a conservative. 'Nuff said, really.

Well theres not much of an alternative, there's red Ken (who i'm not particularly fond of anymore) or someone else who may not be part of the conservative party, but still practically has the same politics.

Boris Johnson for Despot! *\o/*

Red Ken was really good, but he's Labour now... Who knows who's pulling his strings? :(

No I wouldn't vote for him. A hilariously blunder-prone buffoon does not an acceptable Mayor of London make.

Boris is funny as hell, but that doesn't make him a good Mayoral candidate. That said, he could well win if he stands - mainly because he is so well known, and people look on him with a certain fondness.

Boris Johnson is a god!

He's just not very good.. at anything, that's all..

And he doesn't seem like the sort of guy who would be anyones puppet. I does tend to be very frank, so he probably wouldn't be able to get away with any secretive malpractice.

Compared to your average politician; good only at lying and profiteering; that makes him pretty good ¬_¬

Boris > God.

The man is a hero; a politician with character, principles, and, god forbid, a real sense of humour!

I only wish he was Conservative leader really.:p

Boris for PM!

His claim to fame would be that he's had his photo taken with me. *deflates ego*...ok ok so it's the other way round, I had my photo taken with him.

Well, that's odd, seeing as Boris are a Japanese band and all...

...Aaaaanyway, I wouldn't vote for him. I thought that voting for Bush the Second (not that I'd even think about doing such a thing) would be good for the comedic gold that would inevitably ensue, but it turned out that the horrific idiocy totally overshadowed any and all hilarity... And it continues to do so.

So, in short, I just say "no" to Conservatives.

Most politician have a veneer of competence to cover their stupidity, the only difference is Boris lacks that veneer, he no more foolish than any of the others. Anyway he would be a proper mayor, you know opening fetes in his gold chain and handing out awards for best Jam at the WI, not spending billions on creating a unpopular, ineffective stealth tax masquerading as a traffic calming measure.

He's a very funny guy, but as mayor of our capital? I dunno. And he's a conservative. And I don't live in London anyway. But hey, California elected Arnie, I'm sure the London masses are pining to do something equally silly.

So, no, I wouldn't vote for him.

You would honestly use that word to describe a man who repeatedly cheats on his wife whilst espousing conservative "family values"?

He doesn't really espouse family values however.

They may not be conservative family values, but they are definitely Conservative family values, from the looks of the party's former members. :p

I'd love to argue with that, but, well, I can't. None of the political parties are particularly good on the family front to be honest, though.

He's a funny MP, and keeps up his profile by going on 'have i got news for you' and making lots of money with all the stuff he writes, but I doubt how seriously he would take the management of London.

Ken Livingstone has done pretty well anyway.

The joke's not contagious anyway so no fear on that front.
